Ryan - I can’t wait to peep the new mm.com. Chat is lookin’ good with it’s recent make-over.

The Kananaskis G8 meetings have wrapped up, tear gas free. I’m glad to read that the G8 protesters and police were overall peaceful. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the creative voices of protest making headlines. Maude Barlow, chair of the Council of Canadians, made an interesting point in the Globe today. She predicts getting the opposing message out will be harder if demonstrations remain peaceful. The lack of violence was a story this time around, but that fascination will soon fizzle. Hmm. If no news = good news, does good news = no news?

One week ’till I leave for Afghanistan. So much to do: more research, packing, regular Much stuff. I will be keeping a journal while in Kabul. Look for excerpts online at Much.com this September … This is the biggest trip I’ve ever taken. Life changing.

Aaron - what are you sayin’?

Holy cow…. a day late and a dollar short… as always!

Things have been so crazy around here with the new Much.com redesign, I got totally sidetracked and forgot to do my blog! Being that I’m sooooooo busy with this redesign I really don’t have time to spew out one of my long winded spiels that you all love so much. And by love I mean hate (source: The Shouldice). That being said… I will simply leave you with five ways to kill a day online aside from designing:

5. Riding Mower Soccer
4. Fly The ‘Copter
3. Pull My Finger
2. The Osbournes, Sims style
1. Mini Golf

Oh Mattie, what a weekend it was!

Saw the Bourne Identity on Friday. Some suspenseful moments made me jump in my seat - but then again I am an easy scare. Otherwise? Did there need to be a romantic angle? *eye rolling* It was no Undercover Brother, lemme tell ya.

Went shopping on Saturday and bought lots of fun things, then headed off to a bridal shower. Shower games are STUPID. I don’t care how good a friend you are - I am not playing your lame shower games. Grrrr. However, the cake was good.

Saturday night saw us at the White Stripes show. So good! While a couple of us fantasized about becoming Meg White, one of our group said she would prefer to lick the sweat off Jack White’s face. Indeed. After that we went out for soda pops for my friend Jodi’s birthday, and a swell time was had by all.

I ended the weekend the best way ever - on Sunday my friend Kim & I went out for ice cream. Nothing like some hot fudge to cap off a weekend!

Hey Ryan, have you seen the movie Chuck & Buck? It was recommended to me this weekend…

What’s up with punk? Man that’s a loaded question…

Well we still have punkoff on the site, and we’ve had quite a few positive responses from the show, which is rad! Speaking of the punk rock, during the MMVA after party I was chatting with one of Avril Lavigne’s band members who’s in great punk band called Closet Monster on a really cool Toronto based music label. They’re all about remembering when punk rock meant something, which is cool. I’m looking forward to seeing their show…and speaking of shows, will one of my fave punk bands ever come to play in Toronto? I’ll keep my fingers crossed…

Hey bratty, is it true you’ve given up the punk rock to be a reggae star?

Hey Jenn,

Thanks, personally the Kelly Osbourne video is killing me but I’m sure I’ll get over it. It’s been an interesting experience watching Ozzy’s ascent to this new level of stardom. Most of the people who despised and devalued his art are the first one’s on the couch watching this experiment that is “The Osbourne’s” television spectacle. One of the true signs of the apocalypse is when my friends parents are fans of Ozzy and company :-)… Oh well, I guess the Ozzfest tour is around to bring it all back to good old fashioned “hard music.”

So, what else is new…?

If you haven’t had a chance yet to read “A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius” by Dave Eggers yet, you should. This is an incredible story about media, life and falling apart. he really is a genius.

I love it…

Kelly, what’s up with punk?

Soph - I like the dancing. See, The Osbournes are my current obsession, and watching the show every week, I didn’t even know she had those moves in her. I thought she was the girl who’d skip the dances, and egg the school instead. I’m also loving’ her style enough to bite it.

I’m still trying to catch up from the MMVAs. Whatta party. Rah! Team Digital did an amazing job capturing the experience online. Gooooooo TEAM DIGITAL!

Just got an e-mail from a viewer named Karen Penney. She writes: “I love Jennifer’s hair, I was just wondering how she does it? What products does she use, any weird techniques she uses, etc. Thanks.” This is becoming a FAQ for me. It’s the cut (compliments of Signature Group here in T.O.), a bit of sticky hair product (currently Ice), and not washing it often. Authentic bed head!
Time for me to go home and clean my room. George - your turn!

Kelly Osbourne - Papa Don’t Preach Video. Not bad eye candy but the dancing…oh the dancing. It is painful. I would’ve loved to have heard a totally rocked out cover of this song - not an 80s remake of an 80s song - how uninspired. And why do we have to be clobbered over the head with all the Madonna references in the video? The t-shirt that says ‘Italians Do It Better’ and the Material Girl dance steps make me roll my eyes. Now if I were to cover Papa Don’t Preach…

All that being said, I do enjoy Kelly Osbourne. I think she’s entertaining. And, I still watch the video the whole way through when it comes on. But, in my opinion, I think that if Kelly is to do another cover, she should make the song, and the video, her own. She’s got enough personality to totally pull that off.

What do you have to say Jenn? I know you L - O - V- E this video…
