Hi Guys! This is Eddie Della Siepe of Video On Trial. Since Darrin Rose and I are about to start a cross-Canada stand-up tour, this feels like a good time to de-mystify some of the myths that people have about stand up comedy tours.

Exclusive Video Premiere: Shiloh - Goodbye You Suck

Friday, January 30th, 2009

shilohthemechanic.jpg

15 year-old Shiloh, who’s a deadringer for Bif Naked (minus the tattoos and unsolicited opinions) hails from western Canada (she’s inhabited BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan, but now calls Toronto home) and she’s upon us. Her brand new single is called Goodbye You Suck (not sure how it’s meant to be read - “goodbye, you suck!” as a verb or “goodbye you suck!” as a noun) and we’ve got the video premiere right here.

MOD: Fans Meet Taylor!

Friday, January 30th, 2009

So yesterday’s MOD was fanamodium! It was a truly amazing show, the fans were great and Taylor is probably one of the sweetest artists to ever walk down our silver stairs.

Coming to MOD really paid off for two lucky fans! Sophie and Liz were the winning participants in MOD Taylor Swift contests and for their prize they got to meet Taylor one on one before the show. Of course cameras were rolling and caught their exclusive meeting! Check out the video below for the screams and tears!

Weezy VS Couric

Friday, January 30th, 2009

There is something so inherently comical about Katie Couric interviewing Lil’ Wayne. I don’t know if it’s Katie’s serious reaction shots, Wayne’s Homer Glasses, all of it, or just this interaction:

Katie: If you had to ask President Bush a question about [Hurricane Katrina], what would it be?
Lil’ Wayne: I’m a gangsta. Gangstas don’t ask questions.

Earworm Of The Week: The Clips - Space Kidz

Friday, January 30th, 2009

theclipspressphoto.jpg

The Clips (NOT to be confused with the Virginia-based hip hop duo Clipse) are a Vancouver fivesome that I accidentally happened upon at last year’s Pop Montreal several slots before Woodhands was set to perform in the seedy basement of a Portuguese community centre. I’m thrilled that I made the decision to show up early, because The Clips, fronted by regally-named supercutie Edo Van Breemen (pictured above, in blue) dominated the stage and injected some much-needed energy into the evening, getting the crowd sufficiently pumped for the performances still to come. (

The keyboard-heavy group’s new video Space Kidz (from 2008’s Matterhorn) is a catchy builder of a song that starts off sounding like an homage to Iggy Pop & The Stooges’ I Wanna Be Your Dog (sidenote: H&M now sells Iggy Pop t-shirts…wow. I wonder how Iggy feels about that?)and really gets going at the 2:47 mark. It’s a dark, Blair Witch-inspired video that takes place in a limited-visibility forest, cut with a slowed down rendering of a performance. It’s a great song - have a look at the video below!

New Metric Album: YesYesYes

Friday, January 30th, 2009

new-metric-013009.jpg

Hey Metric fans, burn your brain with the date April 14, cause that’s when their fourth full-length album Fantasies drops! But if you’re really keen, you can pre-order the CD (or limited edition vinyl) from their website starting on March 2.

If you’ve been to any Metric shows in the past year, you’ll know that they’ve made a point of testing new songs on the road. Through this process, they were better prepared for choosing which tracks were right for the album overall, and also which tracks they actually enjoyed playing live! Also, each band member took some time on their own to exist apart from Metric and experience things that would make their writing process all the more rich. So what I’m saying is that I expect some good things from this album, is all. :P
Track Listing

Help I’m Alive
Sick Muse
Satellite Mind
Twilight Galaxy
Gold Guns Girls
Gimme Sympathy
Collect Call
Front Row
Blindness
Stadium Love

So not only am I stoked for this, but we can expect some tour dates soon - I think this calls for some pic spam!!
