2012 Is The Year Of The Tangerine

December 9th, 2011

What’s going to be the big colour in 2012? According to colour-forecasting company Pantone (basically they predict trends and fads) the 2012 “colour of the year” will be Tangerine. The rich shade of orange is predicted to be all over your favourite fashion stores, makeup counters and even home décor. In fact, Sephora is partnering with Pantone on a line of Tangerine-inspired products, which include makeup and beauty accessories. Prices will range from $18-80 and the collection will launch in March.

As for 2011, Pantone says some of the most popular colours this year were Deep Teal (which was the colour most-incorporated by womenswear designers) followed by Quarry (a light slate blue colour), and Bamboo (a muted saffron beige). And while shades of black, white and grey will always be popular (totally classic!), Pantone says 2012 will be all about pops of colour and bold statements. So start planning those bright outfits!

What do you think of Tangerine as 2012’s colour of the year? And do you agree with Pantone’s picks for 2011? Tweet us your thoughts @trendingtheshow.
