The 2012 Polaris Music Prize is going down tonight and you can watch it all right here at 8 pm ET on MuchMusic.com. This year’s nominees include an amazing short list of Canadian talent, including Drake, Feist, Kathleen Edwards, Cadence Weapon, Cold Specks, Grimes, Handsome Furs, Fucked Up, Japandroids and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan.
Since the Polaris Music Prize is all about lists, we’ve complied our Top 5 reasons to watch tonight’s live stream. Tune into MuchMusic.com at 8 pm ET to watch the 2012 Polaris Music Prize.
5. The Speakers
Each artist gets their very own introduction by one of Canada’s leading music voices. Check out speeches by people like MUCH VJ Lauren Toyota and hear who they think should take home the big prize.

4. The Nudity
Fucked Up are performing as part of this year’s shortlist. I’m not saying there will be nudity, but there will likely be nudity.

3. The Performances
One of the coolest things about the Polaris Music Gala is that ALL the nominees get to perform. Tune into tonight’s stream to watch performances from Grimes, Cadence Weapon, Kathleen Edwards and more.

2. The Albums
Wondering what artist you should listen to next? The jury for the Polaris Music Prize has done all the heavy lifting for you. Check out the 2012 Polaris long list here and click here to listen to the short list nominated albums.
