French Montana talked with Complex magazine about artist versus artist feuding and how within the hip-hop and rap community, beefing with peers was a trend and guess what? It started a beef. 50 Cent caught wind of the mention in Complex and fired back saying, “He ran his mouth prematurely. He’s really not ready to compete on any level with me. When I drop the single and it becomes the #1 selling record in twelve hours, after you saying that, I think you should be quiet a little bit. I’ll put him completely out of business. He had one song and you didn’t even care about it ‘cause it had him on it, there was four other people on it. That’s your new Ja Rule right now.”
Okay, 50. Slow your roll. First of all, let’s go back to the article in Complex. French was simply stating that beefing probably stunts careers more than anything. French said, “50 Cent could have been a lot bigger. I feel like beef hurt him. [Rick] Ross is on his fifth album, he’s only getting bigger. This is going to be Ross’ first platinum album. 50 came up, sold 10 million. Then after his first album he just kept on going down. You think 50 could come out and sell 10 million now?”
Maybe this is exactly the dose of truth 50 needs to hear. Plus, what kind of respectable artist calls anyone the “new Ja Rule”? Such a bad burn. Lame-o!
