We can never get enough of Beyonce. We want to know anything and everything about our favourite pop star, so we’ll admit that we squealed a bit – okay, a lot – when we heard that Beyonce will be releasing a feature-length documentary in the new year.
HBO president of programming, Michael Lombardo announced today that this new film on February 16, 2013, explaining that this feature will be a fusion of private videos from the artist as well as live footage taken from her electrifying concerts.
“Everybody knows Beyoncé’s music, but few know Beyoncé the person,” says Lombardo. “Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.”
Beyoncé had some kind words in return as well, describing HBO as having “a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity,” and that she is “excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home.”
The film will delve deep into the life of the Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, businesswoman, actress, entrepreneur, wife and mother (she’s also an executive producer for this film – phew, what a lengthy list!), shedding light on her childhood in Houston, her family and her career. It will also show footage shot by Beyoncé on her laptop where she reflects on the realities of celebrity and the joys of becoming a mother last year.Tweet
