A few new reasons to be excited for Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto

September 12th, 2011

Coldplay‘s latest single, “Paradise”, is out today, and the song is the four-piece British band at its best: a stately anthem, at once heartrending, powerful and serene. The track comes from their upcoming fifth album, Mylo Xyloto — the meaning of which no one can quite figure out — set for release on October 24 (full tracklist below). Here, now, a bunch of reasons to be excited for the new Coldplay record:

-It’s their first album in three years, since 2008′s Viva La Vida.
-The record is super-top-secret. Not even Mrs. Coldplay, Gwyneth Paltrow, has heard it yet.
-It features Rihanna, on a song called Princess of China.
-Another song on the album is called U.F.O., and is possibly about U.F.O.s.
-Apparently, album was influenced by the HBO show The Wire (according to Wikipedia).
-There will be a limited pop-up version of the album released.
-Hi, it’s a new Coldplay album.
