A Tribe Called Quest Documentary Trailer Hits the Web

A trailer for the new A Tribe Called Quest documentary, Beats Rhymes & Fights has hit the web. The film was directed by Michael Rapaport, Phoebe’s cop boyfriend on Friends or Mr. Hanson on Boston Public, and it has been a total passion project. The trailer touches on the influence the rap group has had, the internal drama and some of Phife Dawg’s medical problems.

Rapaport said in 2009 that the documentary will be out in 2010 but it looks like the movie will more likely see a 2011 release. In 2008, XXLMag.com talked to group member Q-Tip who said, “It’s weird ’cause they got everybody from [Jonah Hill] to Ghostface. It’s interesting. It’s gonna be their take or whatever.” Rapper Nas is the producer of the movie. Check out the clip below.
