Last week: Blah, blah, bye bye Boxcuttuhz, so on and so forth.
This week: BRITNEYZOMG!1! Each crew will dance to a Britney tune and be given a Britney-related challenge. The seven remaining teams stand on stage, shielding themselves from the onslaught of upcoming Mario Lopez puns. Forget which crew I vote for.. I vote for NEW WRITERS! Ahem, anyway, as I was saying, the seven remaining crews stand on stage, waiting to see who will move on, and who will be up for elimination. The first two crews safe this week: Beat Freaks and Strikers All Stars!
Mario explains that the crews will be given an “iconic Britney move” to work with, and they’re also given the help of Andre Fuentes, Britney’s longtime choreographer (there were rumours that he quit her Circus tour, but this challenge just happened so maybe he’s still working with her?).

Beat Freaks are first up, and they get “Womanizer”. Nice. Andre wants to see the sexiness underneath their baggy sweats, but some dancers aren’t willing to cross the Britney line. But BAM! They pull it out, and it’s super hot. One girl dresses up like office Britney and the rest like men, later tearing off their blazers to reveal corsets. Sick. The judges love it - Shane says, “the world was not ready for that!” Mama says they’re running the competition.

Strikers are up, and they get “Gimme More”. Andre challenges them to create mirror images, cause Britney dances to a mirror in the video. Their live performance is ill, especially when they really start mirroring each other - it’s so on point. They create a line of symmetry with the prop, copy each other’s moves and then switch sides, making it look so easy. Mama says they’re one of the cleanest groups on the show, and Shane calls them the “truth”. “You’re hungry, and we see it.”

Next, Slater creates some tension by telling us that between Dynamic Edition and Team Millennia, one will move on and one will be up for elimination. Seems that America is feelin’ the cloggers, cause DE is saved yet again. Their song is “Stronger” and just like Brit in the video, they gotta dance with chairs - a tough feat with clogs. It’s ok, not as “strong” as some of their other performances. (That was my Mario impression). JC says it was clean, but maybe a bit too feminine? The song calls for a powerful presence and they didn’t pull that off. Shane didn’t really get it and says he can’t get the movie White Chicks out of his head. Mama says they fit the Britney theme well, and id a good job with the chairs, but they needed to show more sass than smiles with this theme.

Mario announces that Quest Crew and Fly Khicks are safe, which means that Ringmasters will dance for their life (I gotta stop mixing my SYTYCD words up with my ABDC words). Quest Crew dances next, and they get “Toxic”, for which they must use a blindfold for part of the routine. They note that this will be a lot less masculine than they’re used to, but as it turns out, they take that vibe and they rock it with a little bit of sassy choreo in the middle. Plus, the blindfold stuff they pull out is astounding. Shane and Mama loved the feminine bit and all of them pretty much say what JC said: “That was my favourite of the night.” Awww, I’m getting butterflies for these guys!

NEXT: Fly Khicks get “…Baby One More Time”, and must incorporate precice movements with sharp turns. A couple of ‘em have problems with the turns in practice, and let their nerves affect rehearsal. Their performance is tight, but feels very Pussycat Dolls, I think. Mama says it was definitely sexy, and they brought the Britney vibe. JC says kudos for dancing in heels; it wasn’t his fave but good job.

Team Millennia are given “Me Against the Music” and Andre challenges them to incorporate a hat and cane. This is their chance to really pull out something big after a couple weeks in the bottom 2, and their performance is pretty tight. The two girls rock out the Britney vibe and even incorporate the Britney/Madonna faux kiss from the video.

Before the judges say anything, we get to see Ringmasters first. Appropriately, they get “Circus” and are challenged to form a giant performer with their bodies and dance like that. Also, they need to pull out some more choreo, cause last week the judges felt they were lacking in that department. Anyway, they hit a pretty solid and interesting performance with the bonecrushing elements we’ve come to expect as well as some actual dancing. Shane is like, “Ringmasters, that was COLD.”
The judges go back and forth on the crews… Shane says that Millennia are BACK, and he loved the cane work. Mama voices her respect for Ringmasters and applauds their creativity. JC says he really enjoyed both crews and the judges are about to make a super tough decision. And after the last commercial break, only one team will be left standing, while the other goes home… and this week, we say buh bye to…. Team Millennia. It was a nice try and comeback, guys.. but just not good enough.
AND NOW:
Slater’s 4 Worst Puns This Episode:
After Quest danced to “Toxic”: “If you thought it was intoxicating, vote for them!” GROAN.
Before Dynamic Edition dances with chairs: “Will they get the crowd out of their seats?” SIGH.
Before Quest Crew performs: “Will these blindfolded b-boys keep their eyes on the prize?” STOP.
Pre Team Millenia: “Will they use their props to get the props they deserve?” OH MY GOD SLATER NO.

I’m with you on Mario’s puns. Maybe someone should start a drinking game with them? lol
I’m hoping Quest will win too!!!!
what the hell, how could america vote for those cloggers over team millenia?? WTF!
Dynamic has performed with the same boring style every week with no toughness or variety. Well I think they’ll be gone next week, or I at least hope.
Quest Crew FTW
