Yes, yes, y’all! Another new episode of America’s Best Dance Crew Season 5! I hope y’all watched it. I heard there was some football game on last night, but I’m sure you skipped it to see who would be reppin’ for the East. But, if for some crazy reason you missed last night’s episode, ch-ch-check it out right here at muchmusic.com.
Crews from the West were battling for a spot at Regional’s, and once there, the judges cut the competition down from five to three. But, let’s start at the beginning.
Warning! Giant spoilers after the jump! Giant! Huge! Ewge!
Legendary Seven: This crew had two members from Season 1’s Status Quo, who made it all the way to the finals. The boys looked preppy in pink and grey and showed the judges their popping, krumping and breaking skills. Lil Mama said that she wanted to see more difficulty in the choreography and JC said he was impressed. I say, kinda boring.

draZtik: Hailing from the hard streets of Providence, Rhode Island (J. Crew is hard, right?), this crew makes all their decisions by committee, which makes them all leaders. Lil Mama said that it was easy to see that the group had been together for a long time and she applauded their ability to move together and make a routine that highlighted everyone’s strengths. JC said the routine was tight and clean, but nothing memorable jumped out at him, and Omarion said that the crew needed to utilize the stage more. I had to look up their picture while I was writing this, because I couldn’t remember who they were. So ya, not a big fan.

Blueprint Cru: I’m gonna come right out and say it: I had already decided that I would be pulling for these Canucks, cuz, well, they’re the only Canadians on the show, but thankfully, they’re also amazing! It’s a-boot time Canadian hip hop dancers got some respect! Anyone else notice that Vincent from Season 1 of SYTYCD Canada and Nicolas from Season 2 were in the crew? Loves it! JC said that he liked the way the crew used different types of music, including rock (no, it wasn’t Rush). Lil Mama said that Blueprint Cru had the best audition in New York. Mario Lopez tried to say ‘merci.’ We appreciate the effort, Mario.

Static Noyze: Hailing from Cambridge, Massachusetts, this crew, made up of ballet dancers, showed up at their audition in Christmas sweaters. I like them already! The crew started their routine doing lyrical dance and seamlessly went into hard hitting hip hop. It was the first time I’ve seen a transition like that on ABDC, and I liked it! JC and Lil Mama loved their performance, while Omarion said he didn’t enjoy it. Maybe he’s more of an Easter sweater fan?

Saltare: When I saw these dudes and dudettes walk into the audition with jump ropes I’ll admit, I had my hater hat on. I can also admit that I was wrong. Saltare, which is Spanish for ‘jump’, is a crew that uses skipping ropes throughout their performance. I’m gonna totally geek out for a minute and tell you that they were amazing! Performing a 540 flip through skipping ropes? No you did’int! Omarion was speechless, Lil Mama loved their swagger, and JC was impressed by their ‘man’ splits (in case you’re wondering, that’s when a man does the splits…I didn’t realize that you actually had to differentiate between the sexes when it comes to splits…in that case, I’m wicked-good at woman cartwheels).

Results time! Our true north, strong and free group, Blueprint Cru, as well as Saltare, made it straight through to Nationals! Booyah! The remaining three crews were left to battle it out. I felt like Legendary Seven and draZtik both performed better during the battle than in their routines, but it wasn’t enough to beat out trained dancers Static Noyze.
Next week, we head West!
Do you agree with the judges decisions?
