Check it: the noms, the shockers, the pics, and the shut-outs you need to know for the 54th Grammy Awards Ceremony next year on February 12th. Kanye West led the way in nominations scoring SEVEN nods, with major recognitions going to his track All Of The Lights. But the big shocker of the night was Kanye’s My Dark and Twisted Fantasy wasn’t nominated for best album, nor was Lights nominated for record of the year.
But those weren’t problems for Adele or Bruno Mars. With SIX nominations each, they’re both going up against each other for best album, record of the year (which goes to the singer) and song of the year (which goes to the song writer). Also competing with SIX nominations are the Foo Fighters, also up for best album of the year.
Other shocking news from the television nomination concert was Lady Gaga. She’s only up for three awards in February. But at least they didn’t forget to include Born This Way for best album. Beyonce, on the other hand, is only up for one nomination for best collaboration on Party featuring Andre 3000.
This year the powers that be behind the Grammys have trimmed down the categories from 109 to 78, getting rid of gender specific titles and let men and women compete against each other in the pop, R&B and country categories. The timelines for eligibility was between September 1, 2010 to September 30th, 2011.
