All you need to know about All Time Low

*Anyone who thinks that it’s me or Hopeless telling them, “you should be in your underwear,” It’s totally them. The original idea was that they wanted to be at a nudist colony playing Ping Pong with a bunch of naked old people, and the paddles covering certain parts. So this is sort of toned down from where they wanted to be.

There’s always one band that manages to strike a chord, question your taste in music (better or for worse, doesn’t matter) or even just provide you with lulz-worthy comments on their warped life. And of course, this particular position is always changing, just like our taste in music. After all, for some of us music is an outlet, a form of expression.. just like tumblr is for certain e-hipsters, or even.. applying mean girl quotes to everyday moments.

I joke, I joke.

But in honour of The Bamboozle Road Show, I’ve decided to put certain bands in the spotlight for the upcoming musical festival. Whether you’re a fan or just curious like George, you can count on having plenty to listen while you read. For today’s dedication, it would be a crime if i didn’t start off with these insane, birthday-suit lovers, the-men-that-your-mom-warned-you-about… Let’s just say that All Time Low doesn’t hesitate to put out their personality, through songs or in person. You’ll always be guaranteed quite a show.

The Baltimore based band consists of vocalist and lead guitarist Alexander Gaskarth, rhythm guitarist Jack Barakat, bassist Zachary Merrick, and drummer Rian Dawson. Their band name comes from a phrase in New Found Glory’s song, “Head On Collision.” I’ve heard of All Time Low for quite a while now, but it wasn’t until last year’s Warped Tour line-up that I actually took the time to listen to their songs. And I’ve been listening since then! (And trust me, I get bored quickly with songs and I haven’t been determined to delete them off my computer yet.. *nods*)

Jack Barakat and Alex Gaskarth co-founded the band in 2003, and it was shortly after that when they included Robert “Rian” Dawson and Zachary Merrick. The boys were still in high school when they signed to Hopeless Records in 2006. In the very same year, they released the EP Put Up or Shut up and was rated # 20 on the US Top Independent Albums chart. All Time Low has released two studio albums as a band.

All Time Low and “Painting Flowers” was added to the Almost Alice soundtrack. While it’s not the official soundtrack of movie, it’s been described as a play list that inspired Tim Burton during the production of the motion picture. If that isn’t something to be proud of, then.. I don’t even know. Last but not least, “Toxic Valentine” a song originally written to be included in their third album, Nothing Personal, ended up on Jennifer’s Body, which starred Megan Fox as a possessed serial killer.

The music festival will take place on June 16th, 2010 at the Molson Canadian Amphitheater. The Bamboozle Road Show will feature All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, LMFAO, Third Eye Blind, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Forever The Sickest Kids and plenty more!
