If you think you’re ready for another round of Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew Season 7: Return of the Superstars think again because this week, we were absolutely blown away by the talent from all the crews. Drake fans will love this episode too because the crews had to dance to all of his hits. And if that wasn’t a tough enough challenge, the crews had to pick apart the song and were instructed to choreograph their number based on a lyric from the song. Do you think “they know, they know, they know” what to do? Guess we’re going to have to see! And if you haven’t watched the show yet, watch it here because we’re about to head into Spoiler Land. Let’s get right into it, shall we?
Straight out of the gates, we learn that Rated Next Generation is the top crew from last week. They opened up the show with their performance to HYFR and totally killed the challenge. They wanted to focus on the lyrics that would take them back in time, and they physically embodied the idea of “rewind” so perfectly that we felt like we were rewinding the playback on our PVRs. We think that this is their best performance yet on the show!
Then we had our favourite choreography teachers, Most Wanted Crew take to the stage for Drake’s The Motto. We really liked their levels and how clean their movements were. They really did travel and use the stage as best as possible as JC Chasez noted, and we agreed with Lil’ Mama and thought that it was a hot performance. However, D-Trix didn’t quite agree, and told the boys that it wasn’t their best, but encouraged them to keep going. We know we really loved their smooth transitions, what did you think?
Now comes the time where we’re going to encourage that you to get your tissue boxes ready. Got them? Good, because 8 Flavahs tugged at our heart strings with their crew member Angel’s story. Angel’s mother is battling cancer and has asked Angel to keep dancing in the competition and to dance despite having an ill mother. They gave an impassioned performance to Drake’s Find Your Love which got Lil’ Mama crying. Ugh… just watch it. We cried. It’s okay.
To break the sad up, we have Collizion Crew ramp on the stage to Drake’s Over. We thought it was funny and definitely a breather for the show. We also loved that we saw the debut for crew member Chris, who was not on stage for the past two rounds due to an injury to his knee. Welcome back, Chris! We missed you! Do you think their performance will save them next week?
Next up we got the Elektrolytes! If this show was Survivor, we’d bet money on these guys to be in the top four, because they fly so smoothly under the radar and probably will swoop in and blow the minds of their competitors. Living up to their name, they really lit up the stage this week for Drake’s Headlines. Every second they had something going on, hit many levels, killed it on the dubstep beat, and really embodied the athleticism of dance. We really enjoyed the intense crab-walk at the end! What did you guys think?
Rounding out the bottom two crews, we had Fanny Pak and the Step Boys. We began with Fanny Pak doing a routine to Drake’s Make Me Proud. They revealed the challenge of having four new members from the second season, and they took bigger risks this week by featuring two of the newbies as the main focus of their routine … did they pull it off?
Then we had a very furry end with the Step Boys and their mascot heavy performance to Drake’s Best I Ever Had. We think that is was the best performance yet from the guys and though it was really funny and cheesy, they definitely upped their choreo game and performed some pretty impressive stunts despite not being technically trained like 8 Flavahs or clean like Elektrolytes. Was the bear costume enough to cuddle their way into Lil’ Mama’s arms? Or should they be sent packing?
Mario revealed that indeed, the Step Boys would be going home this week. In honour of them, we have another Mario Lopez Quote of the Week:”One crew will fly safely on, and the other will crash to the bottom…”
The competition was so tough, it can only get crazier for next week. Who do you think will win? Let us know in the comments section below. And if you need a refresher for all the Drake action, watch the show again here.
