After months of speculation the final line up for this year’s American Idol judges table has been announced. The reality singing show is going back to the original number of judges from the UK version, with Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and veteran host Randy Jackson confirmed as this season’s judging panel.
Host Ryan Seacrest tweeted a picture of the cast, saying “After some musical chairs, here’s how the new #IdolJudges will be seated” with Mariah Carey, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson seated right to left.
The search for new judges began at the end of last season when Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced they would not be returning. Mariah Carey was the first judge announced, with Minaj, Urban and Jackson only being confirmed yesterday.
Keith Urban, country singer and husband to A-list actress Nicole Kidman, doesn’t look like he’ll be replacing Simon Cowell’s no-bs judging style, saying “I did similar shows when I was very young in Australia and I was sort of crucified by one judge. So I don’t know that I’ll ever be that guy.” Pop diva Mariah Carey promises to keep viewers entertained throughout the upcoming season, saying “Am I the mean one? Am I the nice one? … It’s not about me, me, me, it’s about them (the contestants) and what I can bring to them to help guide them in the right direction.”
