I’m all head-achy while I do this (hungover, perhaps?), so I apologize in advance for any spelling mistakes/inaccuracies/crazy-person ramblings. But a little hit of America’s Best Dance Crew cures all, no?
This week’s episode gets right down to biznizz by letting us in on some results. Boogie Bots are safe, but Supreme Soul are in the bottom 3.
This week: the Speed-Up Challenge, where half-way through their routines, everyone has to start dancin’ all fast-like, mmkay?
Boogie Bots
Song: Lil Wayne – Lollipop

I like this group, but this was just slightly unimpressive. It didn’t hold my attention. Not a good way to start off the show. Nice! – they incorporated some cool Kaba Modern-esque arm and hand movements (but they aren’t as good as Kaba Modern – oh, snap!). Boogie Bots, step it up!
Shane Sparks says he loved the performance but parts of it were sloppy and that they need to pick it up; Lil Mama says there were parts that she liked but also they need to pick it up; and JC Chasez says that group member Josar has done his Father proud (who is in a coma).
More results: Super CR3W are safe, so Fanny Pak are in the Bottom 3.
Super CR3W
Song: Santogold – Creator

Hey-o! Always creative and always great, the talented Super CR3W put on yet another impressive performance. The flips and tricks are always stunning and they incorporated more dancing this time. I definitely think this crew will end up in the Final 2.
Lil Mama says it was hot and that they are one of the most original crews on the show; JC says they are super athletes and that the flips were bananas, but he still wants to see more dancing; Shane says it was dope, but this is the first time he wasn’t blown away.
Some mo’ results right nurr: SoReal Cru and A.S.I.I.D. are safe, which means the boys of Phresh Select are in the Bottom 3.
A.S.I.I.D.
Song: Kardinal Offishall – Dangerous

Although the ending was a bit weird (the guys restraining the girls), this was a great routine. Incorporating ballet into the routine is ballsy, but the juxtaposition against the hip-hop dancing is very interesting. Plus ballet on point is HARD, so to showcase different skills is very clever. I love this crew.
JC says it’s the first group who had hit the “slow part” of the song well; Shane says fusing ballet and hip-hop makes a “super crew”; Lil Mama says they are smooth and that Joey, who is deaf, is the hardest hitting male in the group.
SoReal Cru
Song: Chris Brown – With You

Great song, somewhat sloppy and boring routine, no? Like Boogie Bots, it just didn’t grab me like some of the other routines have. Plus there was nothing especially great about the choreography. But this crew is energetic and you can tell they love what they do, so that’s gotta stand for something, no? They’ve just done better in the past.
Shane says the slow part was sexy and hot, but that the transition into the fast part wasn’t that great – “the beginning part, hot, the second part, not, other than that it was aiight”; Lil Mama says the girls in the group were sexy, but not trashy, and that she respects that; JC says he loved the beginning, but when it got fast, he could tell they were thinking about it too much.
More results: Phresh Select and Supreme Soul are in the Bottom 2, which means Fanny Pak are safe and up next.
Fanny Pak
Song: Mariah Carey – Touch My Body

Ok – so everyone knows that I love this group and once again they have proven themselves worthy of that love. This routine was clever, well-executed, and their dancing was pretty tight. This group has personality for days and it comes across in everything that they do. I really enjoyed this. They definitely bring something different to the table.
Lil Mama says they totally deserve to be here and tore it down; Shane says they are his favourite group right now and that they ripped it; JC says they never get too gimmicky with their props and that they mastered the fast section.
And now for the Bottom 2…
Phresh Select
Song: The Dream – Shawty Is A Ten

This group has never impressed me THAT much. This routine was competent, but they just continue to be uninspiring. And now that they are in the Bottom 2 for a second week in a row, I think they will be the ones going home (unless Supreme Soul fail royally, that is).
Supreme Soul
Song: Shop Boyz – Party Like A Rockstar

And then there’s Supreme Soul, who continually impress me – why they don’t connect with voters, I’m not too sure. They definitely are one of the better crews in the competition, so it leaves me confused. This routine was high-energy, well-choreographed and they are damn good at the dancin’. They really are putting up a fight. If they don’t stay this week, I’ll be shocked.
Lil Mama says Presh Select aced their choreography, but overall it didn’t fully grab her attention; JC says that if Supreme Soul wants to win, they have to be hungry and fight for it; Shane says Supreme Soul had their best night ever and that Phresh Select had a great concept, but that they lack chemistry.
Judgement time – who is going home….? Phresh Select.
Called it!
So “Yay!” to Supreme Soul – see you next week, hungrier than ever.
