I am loving that this week’s episode of America’s Best Dance Crew is dedicated to the one and only Miss. Janet Jackson. And what I’m loving even more is that there is an opening number! This is something this show doesn’t do often enough. Choosing Rhythm Nation for the opening song is an inspired choice: the original is one of the best choreographed routines ever (only to be out-shined by If, but more on that later). This group number is not as tight as the original (how could it be?), but it’s awesome to see so many of the dancers all in unison on that little Dance Crew stage.
Side note: Eva Longoria is in the audience! (How random!) Wearing a weird pinkish toga… thing! (Also random!)

Now for the obligatory results: Fanny Pak are safe, A.S.I.I.D. are in the Bottom 3…?!
Fanny Pack
Song: All Night (Don’t Stop)

Out of Janet’s more recent songs, this is one of her best. This routine of Fanny Pak’s ain’t so bad either. It’s pretty sexy and the girl-on-girl kissing is pretty cool as well (I mean, why not, eh?). And then there’s licking! Oh yeah – the dancing: as always from Fanny Pak, it’s pretty good. I’m sure they’ll be safe next week. (Side note: Are fanny packs actually back “in” now? I know people are wearing them again and I was sort of against it, but the more I see this crew and how differently they wear them, I’m starting to warm up to this potential fashion trend. Am i crazy?)
Shane loved the kiss and he says they killed it, but wants to see the guys dance like guys at some point; Lil Mama doesn’t want to make “the fellas dance like fellas” and they never cease to amaze her each week; JC says it’s the sexiest number they had to date, even though it was a little gimmicky – it was hot.
Results: Super CR3W are in the Bottom 3 which means Supreme Soul are safe! (Wow – I did not see that coming.)
Supreme Soul
Song: Nasty

Simple, but good, this crew always sucks me in somehow. They are quickly becoming one of my favourites. They are underdogs and I always route for the underdogs for some reason. These guys straight-up dance and they do it well.
Lil Mama says it was “mean” and that the choreo was separated well; JC says he saw the Janet influence but could’ve been more nasty; Shane says it had clever elements, but it didn’t really move him this week (unlike last week) – he needs to be blown away every week.
PS: Mario just mentioned the Dance Crew tour. Um, why are there no Canadian dates on the Dance Crew tour, huh?!
More results: Boogie Bots are safe and so SoReal Cru are in the Bottom 3 for the very first time.
Boogie Bots
Song: Control

This Janet episode is really forcing the the crews to DANCE instead of just tricks – Boogie Bots do it well, some really good choreo and well-executed. I enjoyed them more this week than i have in the past. Lots of good locking, popping and pointing. (Ha! Pointing.) Nicely done.
JC says when they get robotic they shine, but they struggled in other areas; Shane says he liked what they did tonight and that the “Evolution” concept was great; Lil Mama says it was better than last week and that they need to work on their personality and faces. (Yes, faces.)
Results! Again! A.S.I.I.D and Super CR3W are in the Bottom 2, which means SoReal Cru are safe this week. (Again, did not see that coming.)
SoReal Cru
Song: I Get Lonely

This routine is sexy! So smooth yet energetic and hard-hitting. They definitely brought it out. Lots of grinding, but managed to keep it tasteful. Why was the girl so concerned about shaming her mother? They danced well and that’s the most important thing, no?
Lil Mama says they were sexy but weren’t “over-sexy” – it wasn’t trashy; JC says they handled themselves like professionals; Shane says they ripped it this week, by far the best performance of the night and that it was “fabulous.”
And now for the surprising Bottom 2…
Super CR3W
Song: Black Cat

The trick-heavy Super CR3W come out fighting with much more choreography than usual. It’s a great song which requires hard moves and they definitely bring it. That weird flippy lift thing at the end was pretty damn cool as well. They are obviously not going home this week.
A.S.I.I.D.
Song: If

This was hella exciting for me because I strongly believe that If is the best Janet song ever, best choreography of hers, and her best video. I mean, that side shuffle is HARD. A.S.I.I.D. do it well, however how does one beat choreo that’s already flawless? And they are up against Super CR3W! Unfortunately, I think A.S.I.I.D. will be going home this week.
Shane says Super CR3W are “back 100%” and did Janet’s moves well; Lil Mama says A.S.I.I.D. didn’t take it to the level she wanted but took it back to memorable moments – it was good; JC says Super CR3W saw a lot of Janet’s moves and it surprised him and loved the team work and that A.S.I.I.D. gave a “wonderful performance” and did Janet Jackson proud and thought the blindfold off the top was a big risk.
Super CR3W are obviously safe… So that means that (sadly) A.S.I.I.D’s banner must fall.
Ugh – this bites. I had a soft spot for A.S.I.I.D.
Damn you, Dance Crew Gods!
