America’s Best Dance Crew And You

Yo, dawg. One day Randy Jackson was watching himself of American Idol, dawg, and he saw a commercial for So You Think You Can Dance. At the same time, yo, his friend sent him a clip of some kids dancing on YouTube. Randy Jackson thought for a moment and said to himself, “dude, you could make some crazy money, dawg.” And Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew was born.**

So anyhaps, this show actually looks like it could be pretty hype. I’ve seen the audition special, which you can watch at your leisure (and by “leisure”, I mean “watch it now”) on AXS. The show travels to NYC, LA, Chicago and Atlanta in search of crazy dance crews, and 12 are chosen to perform for a live studio audience. At the end of the episode, finalists are chosen: 2 teams from the east coast, 3 teams from the west coast, 2 teams from the south and 1 team from the mid-west. And those crews will battle for the title of America’s.. Next… Top — no, wait. America’s Best Dance Crew.

My personal faves are Fysh ‘n Chicks, a fly group of girls who don’t need to take off their clothes to be sexy (and powerful!), Status Quo, a bunch of Boston dudes who are BANANAS, Kaba Modern, students who keep their dance flow tight and BreakSk8, lads on roller skates who are making it sexayyy!

Slater is like, the cheesiest host ever (peep the attempts to be down with the lingo), and Shane Sparks may be the only believable judge (although Lil Mama is surprisingly well-spoken and knowledgeable about choreography .. but JC Chasez needs a little work – maybe his stumbly questions and comments will improve).

Let’s hope as the weeks go by, the crews step it up and bring serious fire on the regular. I think this competish could get pretty intense, and definitely will make for some good watching. Speaking of which, every episode will be on MuchAXS, so, YAY!

Oh, and to kick off the show, MOD is having dance crew battles all week, and you can vote for your favourites. On Friday, the four crews selected by you will fight for the top spot as America’s… Next.. Top — no, MOD’s Top Dance Crew? Yeah, that’s the ticket.
