Amy’s Return To Artistry

Amy Winehouse has had an interesting career trajectory in the past year. To wit:

* In February, I buy tickets to see her in concert. Half the people I tell in excitement are all like, “Amy WHO?”
* By May, the mainstream has become over-Amy-saturated. But instead of being known for her amazing music, she’s known as a crazy drug addict.
* By June, most people I know put Amy on the temporary/full-time retirement list. I, for one, just needed a break.
* By October, people begin to appreciate her music again. A nice blend of gossip and talent start to mould her image into something slightly more palatable. 4 Amy Winehouses show up to the office Halloween party.

So now that Amy’s easing herself back into our musical hearts, it’s exciting to see that she’s been added to perform at the European Music Awards tonight! I, for one, will be tuning in, without the slightest remnant of sadness that she missed V-Fest in September. Ok, maybe a bit. Or a lot. Anyway, watch it tonight!

  1. Add me to the list of people who are over it. Like you, I grabbed Amy Winehouse’s album from the “freebie” pile of crap at work of CDs/artists no one had ever heard of…and by now I’ve been so oversaturated with Amy that I no longer care. I’ve moved on to other artists.

Also, I’m really over following celebrities’ headfirst descent into failure and disaster moment by moment.
