Animal Collective released their new five track EP on November 23rd, 2009. The EP titled Fall Be Kind has a different sound from that of previous Animal Collective music, yet obviously of Animal Collective descent. The song “What Would I Want? Sky” is one of my favourites off the new EP.

The track “WWIW?S” has such a satisfying mixture of soothing chaotic sounds, they are just about to throw the listener over the edge; if your car has ever broken down in the middle of a desolate highway, and your cell phone is dead, and you have no idea what to do, and you’re freaking out… then a pair of headlights come into view; those headlights are the vocals of Panda Bear/Avey Tare. Everything about this track just makes sense.

For those unfamiliar with Animal Collective, they are a four-piece band, which assembled in 2003. Their music is somewhat undefinable. In fact, Animal Collective has become an umbrella-term used to describe various musicians who create similar freak-folk-electronic sounds. Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion holds to be one of the decade’s most acclaimed albums. Listen to it for yourself and be the judge.

Animal Collective have impressed me with their new EP. They are going into 2010 on top, now let’s watch them grow.
