
This morning the nominations for the 2011 Juno Awards were announced and sharing the lead for most nominations with six are Montreal’s Arcade Fire.
The indie rock outfit were recognized for Group of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Alternative Album of the Year, the Jack Richardson Producer of the Year and the highly coveted Album of the Year. The band and their album art directors also received a nomination for Recording Package of the Year.
Toronto’s Broken Social Scene Broken Social Scene also snagged four nods for Group of the Year, Alternative Album of the Year, Video of the Year and Music DVD of the Year (for This Movie Is Broken).
The Wedge‘s favourite categories also shined a light on Canada’s best. In the Alternative Album of the Year category, Karkwa, Owen Pallett and Tokyo Police Club joined Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene. While the inaugural edition of the Electronic Album of the Year saw Caribou, Chilly Gonzales, Crystal Castles, Holy Fuck and Poirier named.
CTV airs the 2011 Juno Awards live on Sunday, March 27th.
