Arcade Fire broadcast their Madison Square Garden concert from New York Thursday night on YouTube and impartiality aside it was awesome. Viewers were able to choose the camera angles they want to watch from and send in pictures of their own suburbs in honor of the band’s latest album The Suburbs. The band played a ton of new songs and a bunch of older tracks.
The show was directed by famed director Terry Gilliam who admitted earlier this week he wasn’t sure what he was doing for the show. It seemed like he figured it out and successfully produced an exciting show. The live streaming was the first show in American Express’ “Unstage” online concert series of five. John Legend and The Roots are already scheduled and the others will be announced later.
You can check out some clips from the show on Arcade Fire’s YouTube page along with some special behind the scenes videos. Arcade Fire are making one last Canadian stop in Toronto on August 14 with The Sadies and Janelle Monae before heading overseas to Europe and the UK.
