I absolute love watching people dance -- when I was a kid there were movies like Flashdance, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Footloose, plus shows like Fame and Kids Incorporated [you could even argue that KI "launched" the careers of the likes of Martika (who played Gloria), Fergie (Stacy Ferguson) and Jennifer Love Hewitt (Robin)]. And when I go out with friends, I become mesmerized by club-goers who can really move. I even love watching people like JT and Janet pull out some moves in their videos now and again.

So you bet I "put on my dancing shoes" like the show creators told me to, and tuned in to the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance last night. Sooo good! The show was funny, entertaining and moving all at once...a real competition that showcased tons of talent (as well as some horrifying outtakes from people. My favourite was the contestant "Nigel", who had permanently worn down the hair follicles on the top of his head from spinning on it so much -- he was so conceited, he thought he was a shoe-in until the REAL Nigel, the requisite meanie judge, broke the news to him that he wasn't going to be moving on to Hollywood. Ha!

The wannabes ranged from mini-Britneys to Justins and Ushers...and dancers who specialized in everything from popping and locking to breaking and tapping. So much drama! And here I thought Summer '05 would be void of reality TV goodness. I can't wait until next week.

The new Nine Inch Nails video is deadly -- a winning combination, for several reasons. First of all, David Fincher is the director. As a general rule, I love anything that David Fincher puts his name to (see also: Fight Club, The Game, Se7en and various music vids).

Secondly, "Only" is easily one of the stand-out songs on the new album. Hmm...what else. Well, Apple Powerbooks are awesome. And the CG in the video is amazingly cool. I remember I had one of those Pinpressions boards when I was younger; I think we bought it in Germany...it got boring pretty quick because all you could fit on the small Pinpressions surface was either your face, or your hand, but this video makes much better use of it. You can watch a clip here.
