I'm in a very giddy mood at the moment, thus my pumpedness for this week's episode of America's Best Dance Crew. Let's begin!
But hold up! What is that burgundy wonder of a top that Mario Lopez dons? How is that x-small shirt staying intact? Its seams are surely screaming.
Moving on to the show's opening results... A.S.I.I.D. are in the Top 4, Supreme Soul are not. So A.S.I.I.D. is going to "jump start the Rock The Title Challenge." Apparently, each crew was given a hit song and the task of creating a routine that features a unique physical transformation inspired by the song's title. Um, ok.
A.S.I.I.D.
Song: Flo Rida f. Sean Kingston - Roll

This aggressive group just doesn't let up. Just like the previous weeks, they hit their moves hard and it's always been effective. They had plenty of different "rolls," their choreography was tight and, as always, they were fun to watch. Also, carving the word "ROLL" into their hair was a nice touch. I think this crew will be around for a while.
Shane Sparks says it was "excellent"; Lil Mama disagrees saying it was sloppy and she "doesn't care what nobody says"; JC Chasez (wearing a bizarre bedazzled leather jacket) agrees that it wasn't as clean as it should be, but also thought the energy was inspiring.
More results: SoReal Cru are in the Top 4, Phresh Select are in the Bottom 4.
SoReal Cru
Song: R. Kelly - Snake

Excellent, excellent, excellent. They were together, had snake imagery left and right, and even threw in two gorillas making love (why? well, why not, right?). Honestly, I keep forgetting this crew even exists, but they have impressed me everytime.
JC thought it started a little slow, but had his imagination captured by the end; Shane liked everything they did from beginning to end, saying it was beautiful; Lil Mama thought they killed it this week (and that she is not a hater).
More results: Super CR3W is in the Top 4, Fanny Pak is not.
Super CR3W
Song: Jim Jones - We Fly High

Dressed as prim-and-proper nerds, I thought they were going to go for an airline steward type theme, but props for it being a creative Clark Kent/Superman theme instead. That being said, I wasn't as impressed by their actual routine this week. The breaking, flairs and flips were amazing, and the height on that jump! I thought for sure the guy was going to break his ankles on the way down. But with their choreography as a whole crew, I was expecting a bit more dancing. Definitely very impressive though.
Shane loved it and thought it was incredible and beautiful; Lil Mama feels sorry for the other groups because even though there wasn't much dancing, they managed to kill it; JC liked that they started off with dancing instead of tricks, but that the tricks were great.
More results: Boogie Bots is in the Top 4, Xtreme Dance Force is not.
Boogie Bots
Song: Lil' Flip - Game Over

Hehe. I was skeptical at first. Lil Mama thought A.S.I.I.D. were sloppy, and I think that the Boogie Bots were kind of sloppy as well, but as soon as the black lights came on, they got their act together. That final transformer was pretty damn cool. They made me believers.
JC thinks they mastered the challenge (the concept of the videogame) and thought it was a lot of fun; Lil Mama thought the robot and back flips were crazy; Shane thinks it was the first time they held up to their own name and thought it was hot.
More results: Xtreme Dance Force and Phresh Select are in the Bottom 2, meaning Fanny Pack and Supreme Soul are safe.
Fanny Pak
Song: Britney Spears - Toy Soldier

This was definitely a fun routine. They took the soldier theme and ran with it, the dancing was aiight, and I loved the grenade at the end. What I like about this group is that they don't rely on tricks (because they obviously aren't break-dancers), so sometimes they have to be a bit more creative - and it successfully shows. That being said, I don't think it was their best routine.
Lil Mama says the choreography was tight; JC says they were visually stunning; Shane says they "came correct" and thinks they are the ones to watch.
Supreme Soul
Song: Flo Rida f. Timbaland - Elevator

This crew is definitely creative and in terms of actual dancing, they are talented. They choreo is always tight and their lines are always very clean. They created an actual scene here (the hotel lobby) and went with it 100%. Like Fanny Pak, this is a team that succeeds just with dancing.
Lil Mama says they used the stage and props very well and thought they were very "in sync" (wha-whaaa); Shane says the concept and visually, it was "off the hook" but it didn't blow him away choreography-wise; JC likes how they are high-lighting a new group member every week (Justin envy much?) and their use of the stage.
And now for the Bottom 2 showdown...
Phresh Select
Song: T.I. - Big Things Poppin'

The routine wasn't that inspired overall, but the ending "balloon pop" was great. Not a whole lot of poppin' going on, which was disappointing. Ultimately, I think this team would stay over Xtreme Dance Force, but only if Xtreme Dance Force fails to fully deliver as well.
Xtreme Dance Force
Song: Tech N9ne - Earthquake

Ugh - why does this team annoy me so?! I hate that they are actually good. They attacked this routine pretty hard and it grabbed my attention much more than Phresh Select's routine did. Ok, Xtreme Dance Force, if you stay this week, let's make a deal: if you stop sculpting your eyebrows, I'll give you guys a chance.
JC says Phresh Select is a little sloppy but make up for it in energy and imagination; Shane says Xtreme Dance Force should've come at it a little harder but liked the "organized chaos" of their earthquake concept; Lil Mama says she likes how Phresh Select work together and the imagery they create, however says their choreography is too simple, and that Xtreme Dance Force were too chaotic overall, but that they did complete their task.
So whose banner must fall...? The judges have deliberated and the crew going home is: Xtreme Dance Force.
So Phresh Select is safe!
Goodbye, Xtreme Dance Force. I guess we don't have to follow through with our little deal after all...
