So apparently Boy George has failed to secure a US Visa, which he needed to go on his upcoming tour of North America. You see, back in November he allegedly imprisoned a male escort (um, oookayyy) and is awaiting trial. The UK courts had given him the freedom to travel in the meantime, but the big mean States said a big mean, "No!"
This is what Boy George had to say on the subject:
I was really hoping that the issue would be resolved and that some kind soul at the US Visa Office would realize that if the police in the UK placed no restrictions on my movements, that should have been good enough for them. I am very sorry that I will not see all my American fans this year, but I wish them a happy and healthy Fourth of July. I include the Visa Office in those good wishes and realize they are doing a very difficult job and I just got unlucky.
He is now hoping for a tour in late 2009.
Erm, George - you could still do your Canadian shows, no? Just puttin' that out there...

Soja,
The economical incentive of touring in Canada is lost with the refusal of an accompaning US Visa; since that Visa has not been granted, Boy George would not be embarking on a full North American tour. It is simply not worth it for him to continue on with only one leg of the tour until this visa situation is cleared up. It makes more sense to shift both the USA and Canada dates together in 2009.
