For those of you rushing out to buy an iPhone when it comes out this Friday, July 11, be VERY aware that you may be (and probably will be) getting completely screwed by Rogers/Fido on your plan.
How badly will you be getting screwed? Well, so much so that Apple is reportedly PISSED at how much Rogers is changing iPhone customers in Canada. And they're playing hardball.
How so? Well Apple has decided to yank all iPhone from their flagship stores in Canada and have apparently diverted many of the iPhones to Europe where rates are far more reasonable. The only way you're going to get an iPhone in Canada is if you go to a Rogers and Fido store. When you compare the rates with most countries - the U.S. for example - the cost per month is SHOCKING. For the same price per month in the States you get triple the airtime minutes and unlimited internet...not so with Rogers/Fido. The rates here are criminal in cost.
I was actually looking foreward to buying an iPhone...but sadly, after reading up on the rates and plans...I'll be skipping it.
I'm not trying to get you to do the same...but...tread with caution.

That sucks! We really are getting screwed. I want an iphone so badly and couldn't wait for it to come out mostly for surfing the web. but we don't get unlimited internet like the U.S. does.
I really hope things change somehow.

Rogers released a new plan today.

Plus I'm sure you get paid well enough to afford it anyway. Not sure why you're whining. It's the people working part time jobs at the mall that can't afford it. Unless you're trying to be the voice for those kids...

It was for our viewers...Thats exactly why I posted it khristopher. Big salary or not, i dont think its fair for a corporation to unfairly over charge their clients...most of whom are youth.

Salary isnt the issue Khristopher. Its not so much the cost as the principles BEHIND the costs. When corporations or conglomerates have a monopoly on the market( The cell phone industry for example) they can charge whatever they want. Of course i can afford it, what i take issue with is the fact that they're taking advantage of canada's youth and dont seem to care.

i was just checking the rogers site, i don't know if the plans are any different than when they were first offered, but my current plan with telus@$45 only includes 100mins unlimited evenings and wknds and an insanely paltry 4mb, i can barely check my email with 4mbs whereas the rogers plan offers 400mb
