The Emmy nominations were announced this morning (by the lovely Kristen Chenoweth), and I have to say, it's a lot of "same old same old."
What makes me happy though is that the always amazing and hilarious 30 Rock got a whopping 17 nods - breaking the record for nominations by a comedy series (which was most recently held by The Larry Sanders Show). Go Tina Fey! Speaking of Tina, she also got TWO acting nominations: one for Actress In A Comedy (30 Rock) and one for Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program (Saturday Night Live). She simply must win at least one of them, no?
Also, there is a hilarious (and perhaps ridiculous) new category this year: Reality Host. The nominees are Tom Bergeron (Dancing With The Stars), Heidi Klum (Project Runway), Howie Mandel (Deal or No Deal), Jeff Probst (Survivor), and Ryan Seacrest (American Idol). Although I think Probst or Seacrest will probably win, I'd love to see Heidi Klum take home the gold - I mean, who doesn't have a heart-on for that cute German supermodel?
Anyway, take a look at the full list of nominees (it's quite epic and hurts my brain). Basically, I'm all for anything 30 Rock, Lost, Project Runway, and any Canadians (here's lookin' at you, Sandra Oh) who may be on the list (unless you're in a category against Klum - sorry, Howie Mandel).
Now we just have to wait until September 21st...
