Chris and Jonny from Coldplay just 'strawberry swung' by MOD for a sit down interview. The boys are in town for 2 totally sold out concerts at the ACC and NO I can't get you tickets!

Matte and Leah were at the show last night, and gushed about the multiple stages, performance... and ... uh ... balls?

There are certain shows I watch that I know will always come through with the gold. Gold is that combination of being entertained/appalled. Family Guy. AC360. The Daily Show. Last night I was curled up on my couch and Jon Stewart set up this clip. Yes guys and dolls: Retro MuchMusic. It filled my heart with hope to know that one day, if I work hard enough, I too could be mocked by the best.

Check it.

Hope you all are well,

* GASP! Could it be true?! Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling back together?!

* Mary-Kate or Eddie Vedder? You decide.

* Speaking of the Olsens, check out the covers for their new coffee table book, Influences.

* Australian hipster Sam Sparro is writing music for LiLo. His album is good, her's usually aren't. Let's hope Sparro brings the magic.

* Posh to enter the world of High School Musical 3...?

* And finally, I'm all for Disney returning to their old-school animation (excited, in fact), but will The Princess and the Frog be as questionable as it seems?

Holy eff you guys, just over a week ago I spent 13 minutes interviewing Nat, Nic, Chrys and Tiff (yeah, I use their short names, we're tight like that), aka My Fave Group Of '08, aka Girlicious, and FINALLY (after some terrifying technical difficulties), here it is! I cut it into parts for your selective viewing pleasure.

And OMG, just wait for the part where Natalie calls me out on my Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious blogs... and I'm like, "a-blah duhh mlah mlah buh", and she's all, "it's cool, it's cool". Aaaaah!!!!!

PART 1
My "Like Me" ringtone goes off (people at work love my ringtone, let me tell you), then they talk about the new album a bit... (camera a little shaky to start because I think my hands were a bit shaky)

(YouTube link)

PART 2

Talking about "Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious" a little bit ...

(YouTube link)

PART 3
The ladehs show us their self-created SNL skit, we ask if they were portrayed fairly on the show, and then - OH NOES - Nat calls me out for being a snarky blogger!! Omagawwww.

(YouTube link)

PART 4
Tiffanie talks about her portrayal on the show and I couldn't help but wonder... have they ever had to explain "Like Me" lyrics to any older/younger relatives?

Yessssssssss!

* Ne-Yo has teamed up with the New Kids On The Block (yes, that's right) for a lil' single called, well, Single. Now I'm not hating on either New Kids or Ne-Yo, but from what I've heard of the song, both have done better work.

* Johnny Depp loves his fans but he is not a fan of that stinkin' paparazzi, that's for sure.

* Speaking of paparazzi, have they finally left Britney alone?! They are suddenly turning their back on Brit Brit because she is now sane and therefore "boring."

* Kanye TV? Hm, could be good...

So I was at the mall the other day, killing some time during an (extended) lunch break. It was a beautiful day and the sun was shining through the glass ceiling of the Eaton Centre as I was riding up the escalator.

I was just lil' ol' me minding my own business and I looked behind me and who do I see? Mr. David "Idol Runner-Up" Archuleta.

Granted, it's not that big of a deal (I see celebs in the halls of MuchMusic all the time), but it was unexpected. He was just standing there smiling, surrounded by a gaggle of girlfriends.

Well lil' Archie vlogged about Toronto. And what did he have to say? ...Not much actually. The kid's undeniably sweet, but c'mon, some actual insight on something important or relevant would be nice. I'd love to hear what David Archuleta ACTUALLY thinks about pop culture or current affairs, without his allegedly creepy stage dad watching his every move.

I appreciate the nice things he had to say about Toronto though.

the-killers-new-tracks-blog.jpg

The Killers performed a last minute show last night at the Highline Ballroom in New York City where they DEBUTED TWO BRAND NEW TRACKS.

I've been searching everywhere for good quality versions of these mysterious songs, but all I've found so far is what a bunch of douches at the concert with cameras upload to YouTube - some of them are surprisingly decent quality vids. If anything, they'll give you a little taste as to what's on the way from The Killers. The songs are good (sounding very much like classic Killers - no risks here!), but I do prefer Spaceman over Neon Tiger.

Have a listen before they are yanked!

Here I am! Back from Pemberton Festival... I survived. Some of you reading might be like, "Huh? Pemberton Festival, what is that?" I sort of have this impression that people living anywhere east of Alberta had no idea this HUGE outdoor festival was even happening this weekend. Hey Canada, welcome to the world! This was one of the biggest music festivals of the summer. Maybe not in size (there were 40,000 people in attendance), but because of the lineup of bands that drove hours and hours to play...

Serj Tankian, Sam Roberts Band, Metric, Vampire Weekend, The Flaming Lips, Tom Petty, The Tragically Hip, My Morning Jacket, Interpol, Death Cab for Cutie, N.E.R.D, Jay-Z and Coldplay were some of the major acts playing at the base of Mount Currie in Pemberton, BC.

It was super hot on Day 1, it was extremely dusty, there were lots of obnoxious drunk people, yes! traffic was rammed every which way (of course, it's a festival, there's going to be traffic duh!), and I got a cold/flu kinda thing, but enough complaining! I'll let the newspapers take care of that. Here are the best things that happened at Pemberton Festival 2008!

1. Adam: "The Naked Guy"

As far as I know, there was only one instance of streaking that happened at Pemberton and everyone on site was talking about it. Of course WE made it happen. Adam "The Naked Guy" was a very nice and delightfully drunk young man that I met on Day 2. He only wore a blue speedo all weekend! Long story short, I stole a $100 bill from him, he chased after me naked, gave hundreds of people high-fives, and then I made him buy us drinks with that $100... we got all of it on tape, so keep watching MuchMusic to see what went down.

2. Serj Tankian

Thank you, Serj, for taking time to talk to MuchMusic... Not many artists on the mainstage did! Serj is such a genuinely nice dude. He's hilarious too! I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him, mainly because we spent about 5 to 6 minutes on the topic of c***s. He likes that word you know, and so do I. To quote Serj Tankian, "Pemberton Festival was c***alicious!"

3. Raging Locals

I'm so sorry to Matt Leaf, my camera guy and friend! We were looking for an interview location with Black Mountain and we went across the street to a parking area that a local resident set up. I guess the dude was worried that we had a camera, and right away was majorly confrontational. We didn't even do anything, started to walk away as we saw this guy was not happy (and was clearly sloshed), and he threw this glass mug of whiskey right in Matt's face. It got all over him! WE handled ourselves well, but if I could have injured this dude, or let Matt injure him severely, we would have. But being in the MEDIA of course we can't do that :)

4. N.E.R.D.

Best performance of the weekend! They took the stage 15 to 20 minutes late, making the first and ONLY scheduling issue the whole weekend, but then they brought it! I think everyone in the field was moving to N.E.R.D. And the best part, Pharrell brought up all these chicks from the audience to dance on stage! Haha and he was totally into it. He lifted off his shirt like 3 times... I saw a couple girls lick his body from his waist to his chest... Awesome!

5. Nardwuar vs Jay-Z

What trumps all of this stuff though is that Nardwuar got to interview Jay-Z. On Nardwuar's behalf I will tell you that this has been in the works since June 2nd when he interviewed N.E.R.D. You may recall from watching MuchMusic, Pharrell being so totally blown away by Nardwuar's interview. Well he said he could hook him up with Jay at Pemberton Festival. There's a bit of a story as to how it all worked out, but he did it.

6. Bacardi

Being from MuchMusic we certainly don't have the exact same festival experience as the attendees, that's for sure! Thank you to Bacardi for hooking up a media and VIP tent with free drinks and food all weekend! You were our lifeline the whole weekend! Or should I say, the mojitos were our lifeline the whole weekend.

Pemberton Festival 2008 was a success in the eyes of MuchMusic! We'll see you next year!

* Vanity Fair has released its International Best-Dressed List. All the regulars are there.

* Amy Winehouse has been released from a London hospital after suffering a reaction to prescribed medication.

* Phew - The Joker got arrested. Gotham is safe once again!

* A pre-DUI Shia talks about booze in the next issue of Details. Now kids, this is what we call "foreshadowing."

* Kristin Kreuk has cut her hair! Let the clouds open up and strike us dead!

* A blurry Jason slashes his way through this bootleg Friday The 13th remake trailer.

* And finally, the Top 10 Worst Scenes In Movies. My favourite is number 5: Shark Attack 3.

* Girlicious debut their album art. It's a bit "Clip Art-ish" but whatevs. I'm sure Wendy will like it.

* Hosting showdown! Mark McGrath is stepping down as host of Extra - Mario Lopez will take his place.

* Shia's mom says he's "doing fine."

* What happens when you're a sweet, unassuming 18-year old star who is constantly surrounded with paparazzi? You inevitably end up getting photographed with lipstick on your teeth. Poor, Emma Watson.

* Madonna or zombie? You decide.

* And finally, Hayden Panettiere's Inner Monologue At Comic Con. Hilarious and so true.

Back in June, the Foo Fighters played an epic concert at Wembley Stadium which apparently rocked the venue - especially when they were suddenly joined on stage by Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones.

The hearts of Led-heads around the world sank when they found out that they had missed this impromptu pseudo-reunion. Well don't fret! (pun intended) - the whole shebang had been filmed (just check out this misspelled sign at the venue warning of the film-age), and the DVD is being released on August 23rd. And yes, it includes the Page, Jones and Foo collab of Led Zeppelin's Rock and Roll and Ramble On.

The DVD will also include these Foo Fighter ditties:

The Pretender
Times Like These
No Way Back
Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make Up Is Running)
Learn To Fly
Long Road To Ruin
Breakout
Stacked Actors
Skin And Bones
Marigold
My Hero
Cold Day In The Sun
Everlong
Monkey Wrench
All My Life
Rock And Roll
Ramble On
Best Of You

Now, how about an actual Led Zeppelin reunion, huh?

This week's episode of America's Best Dance Crew is the "Bring The Beat" Challenge, where the dance crew stage is covered in set pieces and props which the crews have to use in their routines - the set being a High School Gym. They did this challenge last season as well, but then they used an outdoor urban setting. It was a great challenge then, will it be equally as great this week? Well, let's find out!

But first - some results! SoReal Cru and Fanny Pak are safe, sadly putting Supreme Soul in the dreaded Bottom 2.

Fanny Pak
Song: N.E.R.D. - Spaz

fanny-pak-ep6-screengrab.jpg

There is no doubt that this group would do well with this challenge - we have seen them use many props and set pieces already in some of their past routines. Plus they are great at becoming characters and telling a story. The idea of the PE students rebelling against the big, mean coach is a good one and Fanny Pak pulled it off, even though the overall routine was a bit more spastic than usual. I'll still stand by it.

Shane Sparks says there was too much going on, but liked it when they got back to the choreography; Lil Mama says it wasn't their best performance, but that they definitely brought the beat and wants to see the fanny packs be put to use; JC Chasez says they usually own the props, but that this time they were maybe owned by the props a bit.

SoReal Cru
Song: Eve - Tambourine

soreal-cru-ep6-screengrab.jpg

SoReal Cru were given marching band instruments, but told that they couldn't actually play them. It's a difficult challenge, but they rose up to it. They found the potential for beats in instrument cases and the shuffling of sheet music, which is all very creative. The choreography was pretty good too, with nice touches like being manipulated by the beats of the bass drum. Like Fanny Pak, it was a bit manic, but overall it was well done.

Lil Mama says they always have a smooth way of being hard and very detailed; JC says they used the props well and made it seem musical, but there were some moments the dancing was a bit stiff; Shane says he likes their attention to detail and their ability to groove.

More results! Boogie Bots are safe and (once again, surprisingly) SuperCR3W are in the Bottom 2.

Boogie Bots
Song: Common ft. Pharrell - Universal Mind Control

boogie-bots-ep6-screengrab.jpg

Ha! This may the first time that I've actually thoroughly enjoyed and been thorougly impressed by a Boogie Bots routine. Although I know they are good, for some reason or another, I've always found them a bit... forgettable. But this week they KILLED it. They used their props well, they were engaging, they used the stage well, and that Flashdance ending was hilarious. I finally see why Boogie Bots rock.

JC says he thought the volleyball spike and Flashdance ending were highlights, but the beginning didn't make sense; Shane says this was one of their best performances; Lil Mama says she enjoyed it, but it only picked up and got exciting halfway through.

And now for the Bottom 2...

Super CR3W
Song: Busta Rhymes - Don't Touch Me Now

super-cr3w-ep6-screengrab.jpg

Why is this crew in the Bottom 2?! This routine was pretty damn good - from the use of the basketballs, incorporating more choreography than usual, some pretty impressive tricks, and energy to boot. This crew knows how to put on the show and never do the NOT deliver. I do have a soft spot for Supreme Soul though...

Supreme Soul
Song: T-Pain - Church

supreme-soul-ep6-screengrab.jpg

Why do THESE TWO CREWS have to be in the Bottom 2?!!! Supreme Soul ALSO just knocked it out of the park (rink?) with this hockey routine of theirs. Extremely high energy, this crew always hits hard and puts on a good show, this routine being no exception. So who is going home...? Can't they both just stay?

Shane says Super CR3W was totally blew him away and thought it was beautiful; Lil Mama asks "America, are you serious?" and says both crews are fantastic and says Supreme Soul are so athletic and animated and are on point; JC says Super CR3W had a great growing performance and loves how they approach their stunts with no fear and Supreme Soul got the concept of the challenge very well and appreciates their great attention to detail.

Super CR3W are safe! So SADLY Supreme Soul's banner must fall...

It's a sad week on America's Best Dance Crew.

Whew.

Wendy and I are literally walking zombies. We've spent the last 96 hours driving, waiting in traffic, waiting in line, milling through crowds, dancing, accosting strangers and enjoying tons of great tuneage. There were a few sleep shifts tucked away in there, but really nothing to shout about. We're spent. DONE WITH FESTIVALS. That is, until I head to Lollapalooza in four days. Ahhhhhhhh. *gulp*

We adored our time in beautiful British Columbia. We breathed in the freshest, purest air imaginable (in Vancouver) as well as air so nasty it was fit for a chinchilla dustbath (on site in Pemberton). Seriously.

For three days at Pemberton, we roughed it somewhat. We left the festival grounds absolutely FILTHY at the end of each day. We walked through miles of MULCH for crying out loud. Thank god for high pressure hotel shower nozzles.

Vancouver, Whistler and Pemberton were very good to us. The people were friendly, sweet and accommodating. Everyone seemed to get along. We saw dozens of hitchhikers, people helping each other out and partying together. No one snubbed us when we accosted them with a video camera - in fact, they welcomed us into their tents and circles. We're sad to be leaving the stunning landscapes behind - there's truly nothing even remotely like this back in Toronto.

Next year at Pemberton (we're told headliners have already approached the festival organizers!), we *might* consider really roughing it by braving the campgrounds for a night or two. We'll see. But until then...

coldplay-pemberton-1.jpg

You all know that I think Chris Martin is one of the ultimate best British frontmen around. He's at once sexy, coy, charismatic and captivating. Coldplay, along with Live Nation were the brainchild behind the Pemberton Festival, and Chris Martin helped hand-pick the location along with some of the lineup.

Because of N*E*R*D's tardiness, the rest of the main stage's set times were bumped up by almost an hour. Instead of going on at 9:30pm, Coldplay took the stage at 10:20 and played till 11:40, well past the venue's 11pm outdoor curfew.

Chris was sweating like a beast by the third song (Clocks) - as usual he was really working hard on stage. I loved the accompanying black and white visuals during Viva La Vida that showed footage of Chris, Guy, Jonny and Will as a string quartet performing those sections of the song. A very nice touch.

And during Yellow, incidentally the only song the band performed off their debut album Parachutes, Chris got lots of help from the crowd, who were eager to join in. It's a very hard song to sing along to...the lyrics are simple, yet everyone seems to forget the proper order. And sometimes he mixes it up. I would have loved to have heard Sparks or Everything's Not Lost...or even Don't Panic or Trouble, but alas, there was no time.

At one point the band stormed down the security-only catwalk to the soundboard and performed an acoustic version of Lost and then The Scientist. Jonny, Will and Guy all surrounded Chris with their acoustic guitars. It was like a band of brothers - this new kinship that the band really feels like sharing with the rest of the world. Then, just as suddenly as they'd appeared at the soundboard, they were back on stage, blasting into an explosive version of Politik.

I can only assume that the band wasn't able to supply the crowd with an encore due to the late start time - they ended with Death And All His Friends. It'll be interesting to see what other setlists look like when the band continue their tour in support of the album for the rest of the summer. Full setlist below!

OMG Hov, I love you too!!

jay-z-pemberton-crowd.jpg

I was lucky enough to see Jay-Z on his Heart Of The City tour in April (my post about it here), but this weekend? Oh, my god. Three songs in the photo pit - let's just say it was a life highlight.

The crowd threw their diamonds in the sky, the band launched into "Roc Boys" and Jay came out with the lovable smile on his face that you see above. I'm not sure how a big former drug dealer can be adorable and lovable, but it's true. (Please note: Jay is also hard, powerful, full of swagger and potential menace, but, I mean... look at that punum!!). He brought Memphis Bleek on stage for a couple tunes and kept the set list pretty mainstream to appeal to the mainly non-hip-hop crowd (like his verses from "Umbrella" and "Crazy In Love", or the Linkin Park version of "Encore"). The set list was pretty much exactly the same as his Glastonbury stint, including a version of Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" and his London-inspired verse over Estelle's "American Boy" ("London's bridges are falling down, not bridges but britches when Jigga's in town"). I was happy to hear "Public Service Announcement" and "Girls, Girls, Girls" and once we were kicked out of the pit I got my bounce on off to the side!

jay-z-pemberton-2.jpg

jay-z-pemberton-5.jpg

Oh yeah, and at the end of his set he shouted out to a bunch of people in the crowd ("you with the flag, I see you... I see you too, girl you fine") and gave his jacket to a guy in the front row who sang every verse. Love it.

The rumours are true: there's something odd about this Matisyahu fellow, what with his reggae-infused Rabbi thing he's got going on. And yet, it totally works. He traipses and twirls across the stage, spitting lyrics and working the crowd (who, by the by, LOVED him). I would totally watch him again, but unfortunately for me, this time I had to leave after three songs to go take pics of someone else! Muh.

Czech that sexy mountain action!

By this point Death Cab For Cutie are pretty much veterans of the festival circuit. . They've done a fine job headlining their own festival in the past (earlier this summer at Toronto's Olympic Island) and they've been part of countless other weekend lineups. So it came as no surprise that they were able to wow the crowd on the main stage earlier today. Singer Ben Gibbard made numerous comments about Pemberton's beautiful landscapes and how awesome the view was from the stage. The band churned out the usual suspects (the set was pretty much identical to Olympic Island's setlist): Title And Registration, the nearly nine-minute version of I Will Possess Your Heart, Movie Script Ending and finishing, as always, with Transatlanticism. Guys, please consider playing some of MY favourites (Coney Island, Tiny Vessels or The Ice Is Getting Thinner), OK? Thanks.

Pharrell is so fly that this is kind of just a picture spam post, thank you very much. *Le sigh* I guess I'll even forgive him for bringing a bevy of skin-showing chicks onstage for "She Wants To Move", with whom he grinded and revealed his abs for their fondling pleasure.

STAR TRAAAAAAK!

nerd-permberton-1.jpg

N*E*R*D ended up being about 45 minutes late, and even though the crowd unleashed a 30 second chant of "BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT!" and then "WHAT THE F*CK! WHAT THE F*CK!" they were surprisingly good-natured about it. But that's the theme of the weekend, really - everyone is in good spirits. When N*E*R*D finally ran on stage, they apologized for getting stuck in traffic (another weekend theme) and launched into some new material.

Pharrell pulled a fan on stage for "Spaz" (who actually did proceed to spaz and sing every word) and made the crowd go bananas during "Rock Star", "Lapdance", and "Everyone Nose". And he actually refused to get off stage when their time was cut short! I would have loved to have heard some more stuff from In Search Of... ("Tape You"! "Provider"!) but I get it - 40 minutes and three album's worth of material. This may have been my fave set of the day ... maybe even better than Jay-Z? Ok, no. Let's not get too crazy.

Vampire Weekend are a swell bunch of dudes. I saw their set at the Rogers Picnic in Toronto last weekend and they were in similarly fine form for an early afternoon set on the Mount Currie stage at Pemberton. Although singer Ezra Koenig wasn't wearing swimming trunks this time 'round - instead he was sporting an eighties jean jacket with "Whistler '89" embroidered on the lapel. Classy. The guys delivered an energy-laden set of songs from their self-titled debut, including A-Punk and of course, Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa.

Wintersleep put on what had to be one of my top three performances of the weekend - they were just fantastic! Two things that I didn't know about Wintersleep before today:

1. They're from Nova Scotia (see the provincial flag above)
2. They have scads of fans in British Columbia.

Despite an early set time, the fans came out in droves to watch the band's set. I hadn't seen a similar turnout on Friday or Saturday at the same time, yet everyone was packed tightly to see Wintersleep perform.

Singer Paul Murphy started out with some unfortunate news - apparently the band had been robbed the night before and all of their gear was stolen. Thanks to the kindness of fellow festival bands (among them Sam Roberts!) they were able to cobble together the appropriate instruments in time for their set. Oh, and they'd been awake since the morning before. Yet they were totally unfazed by either of these facts - they played like CHAMPS. They sounded so epic, so enormous.

They played a new song called Encyclopedia and finished off the set with a raucous performance of Orca. They left the stage and we thought they were done, but after a few minutes of mental "WIN-TER-SLEEP! WIN-TER-SLEEP!" chanting, they came back and announced that they hadn't noticed they still had time to play one more song - and they chose Nerves Normal. Breath Normal. Terrific set from a terrific bunch of east coast guys!

If you haven't yet been urged to check out The Airborne Toxic Event, well, number one, what kind of indie cred do you really have, and number two, where have you been!? I'm urging you as strongly as my fingers can type to check out this quintet from outside L.A. before their album drops the first week of August. It's going to (hopefully) fly off the shelves.

After seeing the band kick off day 3 of Pemberton I'm convinced more than ever that these guys are going to be enjoying some MAJOR success by year's end. They were sharp, witty, technically surreal and all-around happy people with not an ounce of pretension or ego. Hands down my favourite set of the weekend. I'm already stoked to see them again next week when I'm in L.A., as well as at Toronto's Virgin Festival in September.

Here's the set they played, courtesy of Mouse:

Setlist
Papillon
Gasoline
Happiness Is Overrated
This Is Nowhere
Sometime Around Midnight
Wishing Well
Innocence

And yes - they take their name from a section in Don DeLillo's book White Noise. Journalists, please consider at least glancing at the band's Wikipedia page before interviewing them cause I'm sure that even at this early stage they're already growing tired of being asked 'where their band name comes from'. Seriously!

It's finally here - the final day of Pemberton Festival. The motherlode. It's going to be EPIC. Basically a nonstop barrage of quality bands starting at 1:20pm with buzz band The Airborne Toxic Event and ending 12 hours later at 1am (but probably later, given the one hour delay that's been happening all weekend in the Bacardi tent) with a monster DJ set from The Crystal Method. Wendy and I are going to power through this long day and try to cover every last minute of it.

I'm looking forward to sets by Vampire Weekend, Wintersleep, Death Cab For Cutie Matisyahu, Jay-Z, DJ Shadow, and of course, festival firecrackers Coldplay.

By now everyone at the festival is positively FILTHY. The dust situation has progressed well past the usual 'dirt tan' that comes with outdoor festivals - people are literally caked in dirt (and later today it'll be mud!). Today's crowd is expected to be bigger than the last two days combined - so it'll be quite a feat getting home in a reasonable amount of time when the rest of the unwashed masses make their way off the festival grounds at the end of the night.

Since I just took pictures of The Hip a month ago at Virgin Festival Calgary (see?), I decided to take a different approach this time around. Gord's got his primate routine that he pulls out in song three, during which he comes to the edge of the stage, and if you're in the right spot you can get amazing shots of him. So I planted myself in front of a space between two speakers and I WAITED.

85% of the other picture takers were on the other side, and Gord put on a top-notch performance for them...

But then (after breaking a microphone stand and spinning it around), he loomed above me.

And then he jumped off the stage and made his way to the audience...

...and planted a big wet one on a dude in the crowd!

And I was pretty much the only person on the right side to get it all, MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Muh-huhuhu ha. Aaaah. Ahem.

I need to get schooled on these intriguing My Morning Jacket gentlemen. They had a waving black bear in a poncho beside the drums, which means I immediately like them. Plus, I would bet you a fajillion dollars that they like Dungeons & Dragons, because lead singer James came out wearing a warlock-y cape. And, they jam out a lot. Basically what I'm saying is that they're fun times to watch when you're drunk at a festival, or even negative drunk, like me (technically, I'm working).

Pardon me, but here are some pictures of Buck 65! You know what I love about him? Several things, actually. For one, he's from my hood (Nova Scotia). For another thing, he's a consummate story teller. And another thing, he crafts some great loops for his raspy voice. Like he said onstage, he was the only one-man show at Pemberton, but his presence is so big that he fills the stage! Aww.

Here are some good things about Sam Roberts:

1. He's so pretty.
2. He rocks out real nice on stage.
3. He also sings real good.
4. He is environmentally conscious.
5. His music sounds great live.
6. He looks good in pictures. See?

We're just about to leave for the second day of the Pemberton Festival - today's lineup is sure to please the alt-country/jam band/classic rock contingency of the crowd - you've got My Morning Jacket, Black Mountain, The Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Oh, and The Flaming Lips, who always earn themselves new fans at every show thanks to their passion and quirky performance tricks.

But today the main draw for me at least is the Bacardi B-Live tent, wher
