I love the simplicity of this video. There's something about it that leaves you satisfied, despite the fact that it lacks a storyline to follow or even the occasional change of scenery. For the most part, you're watching Chris sing in front of a dark abstract background that resembles a painting. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining (check out how green those eyes are!). I've seen in interviews that these guys say they can't dance, but the way that Chris is 'dancing' in this video really keeps you going with the song. Although the video does feature Chris for the majority of the time, towards the end, the camera does fall on the rest of the band members (just so you don't forget what they look like!).
This video was chosen as the 'Video of the Week' because of its treatment. The effects of a cracked canvas, the dark colours and the strong contrast really makes you believe that you're watching an old painting come to life. But to be honest, I like 'Viva La Vida' enough that anything could've happened in this video and I still would've enjoyed it.

Firstly, I am surprised that so much effort was put toward the cinematography of this video considering were in an age where television programming is slowly moving toward the music format. This is one of my favorite tracks off the new Coldplay CD and this video defiantly matches artistically. I am in love Chris Martin’s “dancing”. I kinda dance like that at clubs (kidding).

I personally think Coldplay is overrated. His voice is annoying, and it pretty much all sounds the same. I would much rather listen to Augustana or Guster...
