The London Olympic ceremonies gave a special nod to the country’s role in developing the Indie community. The Arctic Monkeys played their first hit “I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor” and then another surprise tune, a cover of The Beatles‘ “Come Together.” The arrangement is extremely faithful to the original (with the exception of a slight push to the tempo, especially in the chorus). They even brought in a Rhodes to keep Billy Preston’s signature sound on the track.
The song is now topping the download charts, which might just break this indie group through to the larger mainstream. They’ve already receive substantial recognition, touring as an opening act for The Black Keys. Their newest tune “R U Mine” was fantastic, and I believe the world will be keeping an eye out for their next record.
