Are We Kidding?!

Rolling Stone compiled readers’ response with their own thoughts and came up with a list of the best slow dance songs ever. Sounds like a pretty fun experiment - until you look at the list and see that one of my most hated songs of all time is number one! “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith? Are you kidding?? Sorry Aerosmith - you’ve got tons of great tracks, but the fact that people of earth have chosen that one (over “Cryin’”? Over “Crazy”??) has destroyed my faith in humanity. “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing” is velvety cheese, but not the good kind. In my opinion, of course.

Boyz II Men totally own when it comes to good slow dance songs (the good kind of velvety cheese). The fact that “I’ll Make Love To You” was chosen for this list over “Water Runs Dry” or “On Bended Knee” sends me into fits of rage.

Yours lovingly,
Wendy

PS: What are your fave slow dance songs? Let’s make a mix tape!

  1. Many of my public school and high school dances consisted of the following slow dance songs:

“Everything I Do (I Do It For You)” - Bryan Adams.

“Truly Madly Deeply” - Savage Garden.

“Stairway To Heaven” - Led Zepplin.

    Oh the memories…

  2. Mine went something like this:

    Alphaville - Forever Young

    Breathe - Hands To Heaven

Milli Vanilli - Girl I’m Gonna Miss You

PS: I used to have a bf who made me a mixtape of Boyz II Men slow songs - all of those were on it, and he’d play it for me constantly. WTF?!

  3. Or what about every couple’s wedding song in 2005:

“I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain or that “Baby I’m Amazed By You” song.
