Ariana Grande’s Show “Sam & Cat” is Cancelled

July 14th, 2014

Ariana Grande is breaking free from her Nickelodeon TV show.

Sam & Cat is being cancelled after just one season. Nickelodeon hasn’t given a specific reason for the cancellation only that the episode airing July 17 will be the last. “Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat. We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them the best,” the network said in a statement.

The spinoff show, which also starred Jennette McCurdy, follows Sam (Jennette) and Cat (Ariana) who are roommates who start a babysitting business. The show was considered to be a ratings hit, winning two Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

Ariana took to her Twitter to express her sadness over the cancellation and her gratitude. “I want to thank Nickelodeon for making a childhood dream of mine come true, for being a family to me, for being so accommodating and supportive of my multitasking with my music career,” she said in a lengthy tweet. Ariana went on to thank Dan Schneider the creator of the show, and the entire cast and crew. Interestingly enough, Ariana did not specifically thank her co-star Jennette McCurdy.

Rumours of drama between the two actresses have plagued the show for months after Jennette unfollowed Ariana on Twitter. It was believed that Ariana was receiving a bigger salary than Jennette which was the cause of the strife. Ariana quickly took to twitter to debunk the rumour.

Regardless I think this is positive news for Ariana. Sam & Cat did not do Ariana justice. Now she has more time to focus on her thriving music career and becoming the next pop princess.
