Art Institute of Pittsburgh’s T-Rex goes Gaga

September 3rd, 2010

So… Lady Gaga is playing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this weekend. To honour the great Gags’ visit, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh has “gaga-fied” their prized possession: the Creation Rex.

Yes, they’ve slapped some lipstick, those iconic “Paparazzi” sunglasses, a leather dress and yes, even a discostick onto the Tyrannosaurus Rex and transformed him into a Lady Gaga lookalike.

The Institute claims it regularly pays homage to some of the biggest pop culture phenoms of our time (previously, they decked Rex out in Darth Vader garb for a Star Wars tribute), but on his blog, poor Rex pleaded that he lost a bet.

“Of course I lost a bet!” he wrote. “Do you think a fearsome monstrous death lizard wakes up one morning and says, ‘Today looks like a good day for cross-dressing complete with thirteen inch stilettos?’ No, what happens is that a student brings me four goats and says, ‘Bet you can’t eat just one.’ The gambler in me takes the bet. The dinosaur in me loses the bet. And this is what happens.”

Poor, poor tyrant lizard.
