Miracle Fortress’ Graham Van Pelt
Last night Jono and I hit up evening #2 of the 4 day (sold out) Stars show in Toronto and holy sh*t … it was amazing! The band totally rocked! The sound was impeccable and their energy was amazing.
However, for anyone who has seen Stars before - this won’t come to much of a surprise as they always perform great. What this post is really about is this little and yet equally as powerful band that opened for them - called Miracle Fortress.
The Montreal band played songs from their debut album, Five Roses. While many people at the show didn’t know who they were - I had no problem informing them that they were listening to one of the best new bands in Canada. You could tell that everyone was impressed by their set, especially by their two kick ass drummers who completely stole the show by playing perfectly in sync standing up and adding heavy drum beats to their melodic spacey sounds.
For anyone that likes indie dream pop music for chilling out to, studying to or for just the sheer awesome feeling it gives you when listening through a great pair of headphones - you must get this album. If you want to hear that psychedelic sound with a much heavier and very impressive drum beat - you gotta see Miracle Fortress live. I don’t know when they are performing again but keep your eyes out for them. Five Roses is my number 3 best album of 2007.
