Ashlee Simpson releases full version of Bat For a Heart

At the beginning of November, Ashlee Simpson made her foray back into music with the release of a teaser clip for her comeback track Bat For a Heart. The video was a voyeuristic look at the younger Simpson, showing her dancing and writhing around her apartment in revealing outfits. The song was deemed NSFW for its chorus, which promises to “Bang, bang f** you up”.

Now the full version of Bat For a Heart has been released and doesn’t add much to what was heard in the teaser clip. There is definitely intent to shock, but the song has more of a forced rebellious sound as opposed to natural. Still, Simpson’s voice is strong and the track is catchy. Hopefully the rest of Ashlee’s upcoming disc will offer more depth and polish.
