Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be Director X behind the lens of a Justin Bieber video? Or what it’s like to direct Shawn Desman in an RT! video? Nine talented filmmakers got their chance through the Music & Image Conference at the Atlantic Film Festival . The fest runs the 10 x 10 Music Video Mentorship Program and it aims to connect young talent with industry pros and equipment to create music videos and promote Canadian talent.
The nine Atlantic Canadian filmmakers and Atlantic Canadian musicians and bands were paired up to produce music videos to be screened at the fest. It was no easy feat as these teams were given only five days to shoot and edit their submissions. These guys were also able to participate in a music video workshop with access to video director mentors, film equipment and post-production support during the program. Heading up the program and advising the teams was Juno and MMVA Award winning director, Kyle Davison.
We’re sure it wasn’t an easy task for the jury, but after some careful consideration they announced that Scott Simpson’s video for the Crow’s track The Divocees won! The coolest part? Scott and the Crows get to share the RBC Emerging Artists Award prize valued at $10,000! New camera, anyone? And be sure to check out all the videos here on the Atlantic Film Festival Facebook Page!
