Jenna and Jake’s kiss is no longer a secret, Matty kinda DTRs and Tamara and Ming get to know their besties’ bf! Find out what happened on Episode 10 of Awkward. after the jump!

Jake decided that it was time to tell Lissa about his kiss with Jenna. Unfortunately, he did this in front of the school. Naturally, Lissa slapped Jake. Wait, no she didn’t – she slapped Jenna! Hai gurl, first off, keep your hands to yourself. Secondly, you’re not dating Jenna. Direct your hatred towards Jake, mmmmkay?

Matty confronts Jenna about the kiss with Jake, but she laughs it off and says that Jake initiated the whole thing, which is true. Matty then does the unthinkable and asks Jenna out on a date. A real date! Jenna wants to tell her bestie and the slap warmed Tamara’s heart for a split second, long enough to make Jenna think she was forgiven. She’s not. Still. Yesh.

Valerie pulls Jake and Lissa into her office to give her high school students relationship counseling. Um, kay? Jake apologizes and says that if Lissa wants to break up he’ll totally understand. Unfortunately, his plan for a way out doesn’t pan out.

Ming wants Jenna and Tamara to be friends again, so Jenna asks Ming to help get the friendship back on track. Ming tricks Tamara into meeting Jenna under the bleachers and Jenna again apologizes for kissing Tamara’s crush after her aunt drugged her. You know, that old story. Tamara admits that she didn’t really write the letter and just said that to hurt Jenna. So then who did write it? Tamara thinks it was Matty, but I think the writing skills of the letter may be above his abilities.

The girls decide to show up at Jenna’s place minutes before her big date to find evidence that Matty wrote the letter.

All they do is make her nervous, which is compounded by the billions when Jenna finds her mom showing Matty baby pics of Jenna. Thanks, mom.

The two finally get their first date on track and Matty wants to take Jenna somewhere special…which is really, really, really far away.

When the finally get to the dimly lit restaurant Jenna is sure that Matty has brought her to the middle of nowhere to hide her.

That is until she meets Matty’s uncle, who owns the restaurant. Aw, this is sweet. Date back on track. Jenna and Matty get back to her place after dinner to find Tamara and Ming waiting for them. Thanks buzzkill. The girls suggest a truth or dare kind of game to try and decipher the complicated mind of Matty. FYI, not that complicated. They finally figure out that Matty didn’t write the letter and that he’s actually a really cool guy.

Meanwhile in Meansville, USA, Sadie is as per usual taking advantage of Lissa’s trust (ie. she’s not that bright) and dictating a letter that Lissa is going to force Jake to read to Jenna. The word skitch (skanky beeotch) is in the first line and then it’s pretty much downhill from there.

Jake drives Sadie and Lissa to Jenna’s house and the girls force him to go to the front door and read Jenna the letter.

When Jake finally rings the bell he skims the paper and realizes that his girlfriend and her friend are in fact the ‘skitches’.

Instead, he apologizes to Jenna for the slap and then finally breaks up with Lissa. About dang time!

With Ming and Tamara’s blessing and her first date with Matty done with, Jenna finally feels confident that things between the two of them are moving forward. I wonder if Jake’s single status will affect this at all?

Find out how it all ends on the one-hour season finale of Awkward. this Wednesday at 8 pm ET! Don’t miss the Awkward. marathon starting before the finale at 6 pm ET on Much!
