Awkward Ep. 3: Three’s A Crowd

July 13th, 2012

Another week, another Awkward.! Last week Jenna and Matty escaped being found out by getting help from The Asian Mafia, her father came close to finding out about the “Carefrontation” letter, and Jake stayed happy as a clam (such ignorant bliss). But there are no happy ever afters on this show, only the stark realization that life can only throw more curve balls and get more awkward. Shall we get into this week’s episode, Three’s A Crowd together? Have you watched it yet? You can do so here. And, as always, feel free to follow along with me!

Jenna is still navigating being the girlfriend, between her current beau and her ex-love.

And Val is still get comfortable being the new Vice Principle of Palos Hills High… but do you guys think she really actually wants to be?

At the school assembly on bullying, Tamara is forced to do a dance that makes her feel awkwardly exposed. Panini-style. Her words, not mine. Mid-dance she sees Ricky Schwartz making out with a new girl on the bleachers and she goes all five-alarm freak out on the guy. Why can’t he just keep it in his pants?!

The stunt leaves Tamara in trouble with Val/new Vice Prez/old counselor. Val is training the new counselor and is being really tough on her. Tamara’s punishment? She’s now supposed to help anchor a anti-bullying campaign at school. Fun.

By now Mr. Hamilton has realized that his wife, the ever so caring Mrs. Hamilton that she wrote the letter that (1) broke Jenna’s heart (2) broke her self-esteem (3) nearly “killed” her, and (4) maybe saved her, as Jenna’s spirit persevered … right? But the fact is, Mr. Hamilton had enough and now spends dinners away from home, much to the sadness of the Hamilton women.

What’s a woman to do? Mrs. Hamilton does the whole grand gesture thing and buys the family a hot tub. Which Jenna finds herself in. With Matty. And Jake. And her father. Awkward.

And Sadie seems like she’s giving out great advice to Tamara and Jenna. Sadie’s point? Don’t get angry – get even.

So, in retaliation, Jenna (thinking that Matty is trying to sabotage her relationship with Jake) does everything in her power to get even. And that means, making out with her boyfriend in front of Matty. And being a first class clinger.

Having enough of the shenanigans, Jenna confronts Matty in the hallway. He says that he wasn’t trying to sabotage anyone and it leaves Jenna feeling like a B. A Bully.

At the anti-bullying walk-a-thon, Jenna realizes that she must let go and let their relationship(s) breathe. Good choice. Good thing Jake is also a sweetheart.

And also realizing that Jenna isn’t the only one trying to figure it all out, she and her mother share a moment. And if Jenna can forgive her mother, her father then possibly could, right? Can’t wait for next week’s episode! You can always watch Awkward. online on MuchMusic.com and be sure to catch a new episode next Thursday at 10:30pm ET/ 7:30pm PT right here on MuchMusic.
