Awkward Ep 4: Are you there, God? It’s me, Jenna.

Jenna is still balancing keeping her and Matty a secret from Jake, her feelings of guilt for her parent’s separation, and keeping afloat in high school and it’s coming to a head. Desperate times call for measures so on this week’s Awkward. she’s exploring religion as a way to deal with her feelings and attending Lissy’s Christian retreat. Good luck with that one J, because no matter what kind of retreat you go on, you can’t retreat from your problems. You can only hit them head on. Did you watch Are you there, God? It’s me, Jenna.? Lacey and Jenna go to church to absolve themselves of guilt from their recent indiscretions of an awkward magnitude. Lacey feels guilty still about the letter which led to her husband leaving their home and separating from her. Jenna feels guilty about keeping the Matty secret a secret from Jake.

At school Tamara and Jenna talk about Tamara being grounded but whilst this is happening Kyle (the stalker from season one) wears a t-shirt that irks Tamara. Could Kyle have found a new stalkee?

Jake consoles Matty about the girl he lost (not knowing that it is Jenna) and suggests that Matty gets over her by going on a double date to which Jenna bolts out of saying she has Jesus camp to go to.

Jenna discovers that Jesus camp is full of people who are … friendly.

When Jenna is persecuted by Sadie who comes to the retreat to win back Lissy as a BFF, she tries to leave. However, Clark who was bullied by Sadie as well convinces Jenna to stay and not let bullies rule her life.

But of course, Sadie tries to bully Jenna anyways.

On a Skype chat with Kyle, Tamara tries to confront him about stalking her. Unfortunately, Kyle is a slippery snake and gets out of the accusation.

During the share circle, Jenna gets put under the spotlight for her faux-suicide which prompts her to leave the retreat. Sadie doesn’t know when to stop.

Across town Lacey and Valerie have a solo-dinner together. They drink and help each other realize that they don’t need anyone to make them happy. They can do it for themselves.

Jenna makes peace with the whole Matty thing, Matty comes back with a renewed sense of “okay”-ness. They hug and then a cute co-ed stolls past. Matty sniffs his armpits which could only mean one thing: he’s moving on. Uh-oh. How is Jenna going to deal with that? Guess we’re going to have to watch Awkward. when it airs after Degrassi on Thursdays at 10:30pm ET/ 7:30pm ET right here on MuchMusic.
