Awkward Ep. 6: What Comes First: Sex Or Love?

August 7th, 2012

It’s the day after Valentine’s Day on the latest episode of Awkward. and Jake told Jenna that he loves her. And she said, “Awesome”. You’re all caught up now. Did you watch What Comes First: Sex Or Love? yet? Watch the episode here and let’s walk through memory lane together for the recap, shall we?

Jenna is still confused. Why didn’t she just tell Jake she loved him back? I mean, it’s not like she doesn’t love him, but she can’t bring herself to land on a decision.

Jenna spends most of her time trying to convince herself (and Tamara and Ming) that she must be in love. Tamara and her conclude that Jenna knew that she was in love with Matty until after she slept with him. Unfortunately that means in order to get her answer and sort her feelings out, she must have sex with Jake.

Jenna tells Jake she wants to have sex. Wait, no, she tells the whole school. Darn PA systems!

Mortified, she holes up in a washroom stall.

Val tries to help out Jenna by telling her that she might want to be more subtle with her intentions.

Valentine’s Day also had some repercussions for new love birds Sadie Saxton and Ricky Schwartz. It also looks like Sadie is only looking for kisses while Ricky is full-on smitten. Good luck, Schwartz, she’s a wild one.

Jenna and Jake decide to get the whole sex thing over with and they realize they have a two-hour window while her mom is at yoga. Except when J+J get to the house, her mom, her mom’s BFF, and Val are drinking. Jake bolts, and Jenna stays… it turns out Aunt Allie has met a new (rich) guy. Who also happens to be Sadie’s uncle. So while Sadie and Jenna watch the wine get sloshed around, they learn two things: (1) appreciate the guys who see you for who you exactly are and (2) you can’t have sex to tell you how to feel.

Jenna’s mom happens to give good advice. The first time with someone is always like “the first time”. So make it special. Which prompts her to make plans with Jake.

And Jake does what he does best. Which is assure Jenna that he loves her regardless whether or not she says it and doesn’t pressure her to have sex with him.

This makes Jenna feel ready more than ever before and they have their night together.

What does this all mean? What will happen to her feelings with Matty? Will Jake feel the same after sex? Will Jenna’s parents get back together? Guess we’re going to have to watch the next Awkward. Thursdays at 10:30pm ET/ 7:30pm PT after Degrassi right here on MuchMusic.
