“The Dark Knight Rises“. Done. That’s the title for Batman 3. For the villain….director Christopher Nolan hasn’t released that bit of news yet.

Nolan did say who the villain WILL NOT be: The Riddler. So good-bye all those rumours about Johnny Depp and Joseph Gordon-Levitt donning the emerald suit and witty remarks.

The title will probably disappoint a few fans who were hoping it would be called “The Dark Knight Returns” after a famous story written by Frank Miller (fans hoped it would also loosely mirror this story as well).

The Dark Knight Rises will also stay away from the 3D format when it hits theatres.

The film currently boasts Christian Bale as millionaire Bruce Wayne, Michael Caine as loyal butler Alfred, Gary Oldman as trusted ally Commissioner Gordon and Tom Hardy in an as-yet-unnamed role. The movie is set to be released on July 20, 2012.

Let’s hear it: who do you think will be fighting the caped crusader in 2012?

My guess is Catwoman. They killed off the only female lead so unless they bring in Vicki Vale, the cat is the next best thing. There were already rumours swirling around the internet about getting Angelina Jolie on board for the role.

Anyone else? The Peguin? Poison Ivy? Clayface? Harley Quinn? The Mad Hatter? Mr. Freeze?
