Be Careful What You Wish For: Hard Times Recap

Remember those times you’d wish someone would get hit by a bus just so you wouldn’t have to deal with them? If you’re name is R.J. Berger you might wanna rethink making that wish. Asking a girl out on a date can lead to emotional pain and rejection: but in the case of R.J. Berger and Miles the pain is much more physical!

Pinkerton High’s Winter Formal is approaching and it doesn’t bother R.J. and Miles. They’ve got their night planned out: chilling at home on the expert level of Beatles Rock Band. But they soon realize if they don’t’ want to spend the rest of their lives that way they’ve got to get their grindin’ on and bring a hottie to the dance.

And their journey of 99 slaps starts. They’ve got to ask every girl they know until one poor schmuck says ‘yes’. Miles gives it the good fight but R.J. throws in the towel early. He knows where he can get a date: Lily Moran. The girl has worshipped him from day one and it’s a guaranteed lay (her words, not mine). Of course she jumps at the chance and says yes when he asks.

Miles strikes gold when he asks out Robin (the pretty girl he’s liked since episode 1 and the girl who kicked his balls in). She’s tired of all the BS “good-looking guys” give her and says yes.

Jenny Swanson is tired of the same thing and breaks up with Max Owens. Newly single she decides to ask R.J. to the dance before any of Max’s friends swoop in on her. After R.J. says yes he has to face the fists of Max. Jenny’s ex threatens Berger saying if he so much as approaches her with anything other than a text book he’s a dead man.

R.J.’s hard choice: go with the girl of his dreams and get killed by Max or go with his childhood friend and rock her world. He knows the right choice (go with Lily cause he asked her first) but he knows what his…. “heart” …..wants (Jenny!).

Boy, in a situation like that I wish something would happen where I didn’t have to be the bad guy. Wait a minute….

….just as R.J.’s about to make his decision Lily gets hit by a bus! Yep – didn’t see that one coming either. Whew – dodged a bullet there! But still – be careful what you wish for…
