Benjamin Charles Watson talks homophobia in hip hop on The L.A. Complex

When The L.A. Complex premiered on MuchMusic this past January, a subject matter that had remained uncharted territory in television was broached for the first time. Actors Benjamin Charles Watson and Andra Fuller play Tariq and Kaldrick, a gay couple in the closet. Not so new, until you look at the scenario of Fuller playing a rapper and Watson a hip hop producer.

We talked to Watson about his portrayal of Tariq and tackling homophobia in hip hop. Check out the interview under the jump and don’t miss the season finale of The L.A. Complex this Tuesday at 9 pm ET on MuchMusic.
