Sarah reacts to the rain during the 2008 MMVAs
Twas the night before… Tuesday and all through the… Much store, not a creature was stirring, except for my photo folder. No, scratch that. Nevermind. Let’s start over.
Ahem. 2008 saw a huge mishmash of artists, actors and randoms stop by Much HQ. Of course we were there to capture all of them with glorious, glorious newfangled photo machines, and now the time has come to share with you our favourite guests and moments of the year! From Tom Cruise to Usher, MGMT, Jonas Brothers, Twilight Live@Much, Tokio Hotel, Pink and Leona Lewis – we saw more screaming fans come through these parts than any year in memory.
Standouts:
1. Jonas Brothers bring out the biggest, craziest crowd we may have ever seen take over the streets. A line-up of fans snaked around the entire block, back up the other side of the street and down two more streets. Insane.
2. For Twilight Live@Much, a building wrap-around of fans not only camped out in the rain and cold to get wristbands, but then they returned in an attempt to get front row seats on the actual day.
3. There was a downpour before the MMVA red carpet, and then the skies cleared.. until halfway through the red carpet show, when the skies opened up to unleash the craziest dump of rain we’ve ever seen – in the middle of an interview with Jesse McCartney. Prior to that, you can see the clouds darken and lightning flash in the background!
4. I don’t think anybody really knew the mega status of Tokio Hotel until they stopped by MOD the first time (of two).
5. Not only did Tom Cruise stay longer than expected to sign autographs, but he showed off his dancing skills from the Tropic Thunder movie.
And now… 42 photos! Oh yes, you’re in it for the long haul. (Click on “show description” in the top left corner for captions)
