So yesterday Soja and I were talking about U2 (if you know either of us you’ll know that it’s probably the first time in the past 15 years that either of us has had a conversation about the band that didn’t revolve around Bono’s ego) and reminiscing about all the great songs (and videos) the band has had,
For no reason or occasion at all, here’s My Personal List Of Favourite U2 Songs, Ever. You can tell by the list that my period of liking U2 was kinda limited to pre-Zooropa days, with the exception of Rattle And Hum, an album that I can’t bear to listen to.
What’s your list??

You’re mental if you have a problem with Sunday Bloody Sunday…
Have you ever even listened to music?
@Justin: Uh, yeah I’ve listened to music. Have you ever heard of this concept called “getting sick of a song because it’s overplayed on radio stations, at weddings and basically every dance night ever in the past twenty years”? There you go. I didn’t say I hated the song, I just said I was sick of hearing it.
@Mark: Yes! I should check out those versions from the hits CD. And what’s Crumbs From Your Table? I’m also a fan of Tryin’ To Throw Your Arms…but I wanted to keep the list at 10 so I didn’t include it.
Crumbs is from Atomic Bomb.
U2 were forced to finish Pop because they had already sold out the Popmart tour. Big mistake. The album sounded tinny and unfinished. They went back and redid a few songs for the 90’s hits record. Much better and fuller sounding versions of these tracks.
@Justin - I think there needs to be a new post about political songs that have lost their meaning through constantly being overplayed. U2 has a few.
pretty much dislike this band, but the one song that if i hear it i won’t turn off is bullet the blue sky, so i’m kind of surprised it’s not on the list but maybe fans hate it and non fans like it?
BEAUTIFUL DAY IS THE AWESOMEST SONG EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful day and Pride are, by far, the greatest songs of all time. Every other U2 song is nearly as great as that song.
Anything from Joshua Tree is better than your choices. How is Red Hill mining town not on the list? How is Running to Stand Still not on the list?
Cheers,
confused
