or…Don’t Be Such A Movie Snob.
I’m sort of desperate to see “Beverly Hills Chihuahua.”
Yeah, I said it.
If you’re like everyone I work with, you just rolled your eyes and thought, “What an idiot. That movie looks terrible.”
My response to you is, “Of course that movie looks terrible! That’s the whole point.”
I’m counting on the adventures of talking chihuahuas to be absolute garbage. The fact that the dogs sing and dance is icing on the cake of this multi-million dollar extravaganza.
I’d way rather see a flick with talking animals than another lame-o comedy starring Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler. (And let’s be honest here, a movie about an Israeli counter-terrorism army commando who becomes a hairdresser in New York isn’t much more believable than a talking dog getting lost in Mexico.)
A few stats, if you will:
“Alvin And The Chipmunks” - released 2007, grossed $360,000,000+ worldwide
“Garfield: The Movie” - released 2004, grossed $198,000,000+ worldwide
“Beverly Hills Chihuahua - released 2008, grossed $52,000,000+ after only 10 days
So, the next time you feel the need to talk to me about some foreign movie you saw, don’t bother…unless there’s a talking animal involved.
