It’s actually dangerous
July 21st, 2014
If there is one person in the known universe that can boost a sinking project, it’s Beyoncé. The pop superstar has given 50 Shades of Grey the Bey-seal of approval that it desperately needed after a year of set backs for what was once pegged as the movie of 2014.
Based on the E.L. James trilogy about S&M-loving billionaire Christian Grey, the film has hit a series of roadblocks, first with lead actor Charlie Hunnam dropping out, then with the film’s release being pushed back to 2015, and finally with the flick being reduced from three to one films.
It looks like Beyoncé is helping breathe life back into the project, dropping a surprise teaser trailer (even trailers need trailers sometimes) with a few snapshots of images from the film, while a slowed down Crazy In Love plays in the background, a song that is referenced in the books.
Beyoncé’s Instagram video is the first the world is hearing about the singer’s involvement in the film, which is already rumoured to be receiving a NC-17 rating. Giggity.
Let’s hope that Beyoncé’s musical touch, as well as the studio’s decision to condense the three-part series into one film, will make it watchable. Honestly, we couldn’t get past the halfway mark of the first book.
The full trailer for 50 Shades of Grey will be released this Thursday with the film hitting theatres in February 2015.Tweet
