Black Mamba And The Bride

April 13th, 2004

Holy flippin? rotten bananas, man. This week is a pivotal sliver of time in our contemporary history. So earth-shattering that the date April 16, 2004 shall be forevermore memorized by schoolchildren of the future. And when robot teachers question their students of the importance of this day, every child shall reply, “Kill Bill Volume 2?opened in theatres.”

My eyes are bloodshot. My hands shake such that I cannot eat properly. I am waiting, waiting somewhat patiently for the sun to gloriously rise on the morn of April 15, yes April FIFTEENTH because I have been so lucky to have purchased advanced screening tickets for an IMAX presentation on that fateful day.

For the ones who must wait until April 16th, I feel your pain. I too have suffered the torture of enduring a 6-month pause in viewing continuation. I too sat open-mouthed at the cliffhanger ending of volume one. I too destroyed several breakables when the release date for volume two was pushed from February 20 to April 16.

Now, our time has come. We have become the new Star Wars nerds. I am proud to be a Tarantino nerd, proud to idolize The Bride and proud to have made a Christmas movie that paid homage to the wonder that is Kill Bill.

The DVD of volume one is currently in my death grip, and I shall watch it on Thursday night before seeing volume two – but I?ll have to wait until after Survivor (when Rahb will backstab yet another victim).
