Blink-182′s Travis Barker gets the Virgin Mary tattooed on his head

Reminder: tattoos are permanent and they hurt like hell.

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker survived a fatal plane crash in 2008 which left him with second and third degree burns on his lower body and torso. As a result, many of Barker’s tattoos were gone, but the drummer has taken this as a second chance to redo his tattoos.

“All of my first tattoos were gone after that plane crash and my skin grafts,” he told Inked Magazine. “So I have a second chance to do my legs all over again, which is kind of cool for that to come out of a bad situation.”

One of his most recent pieces was not on his leg or torso, though, but rather on his head. Barker decided to get a tattoo of the Virgin Mary at the top of his skull (ouch!). You can see it in the lead photo.

“I think I might get my first tattoos all over again in the same places,” Barker said. “I get tired of being asked ‘What was your first tattoo?’ and not being able to show anybody.”
