Producer/musician/songwriter/taste-maker extraordinaire Dev Hynes, has had a busy couple years producing hits for Solange, Sky Ferreira and Mutya Keisha Siobhan. But he’s found some time for himself and at some point will be releasing a brand new Blood Orange album titled Cupid Deluxe. There is no date or label currently attached to it, but Hynes has dropped the first single, a breezy, light R&B jam called “Chamakay” that features vocals from Caroline Polachek of Chairlift. Directed by Adam Bainbridge, the video was shot in Georgetown, Guyana, where Hynes has familial roots.
About the video, Hynes says, “I decided to visit Georgetown, Guyana for the first time, the town where my mother is from. She, herself has not been back for 30 years, 3 years before I was born. I tracked down family members, including my 92 year old grandfather, who I had never met before. In this video you will see our first ever meeting.”Tweet
