Tragic news to report — DJ AM has passed away at the age of 36.

The celebrity DJ born Adam Goldstein was discovered dead in his New York apartment Friday at about 5:20pm.

Goldstein’s friends notified the autorities after not hearing from his for several days. The police found his body after breaking down his apartment door.

While the cause of his death is still undetermined, reportedly drug paraphenalia was found at the scene.

Goldstein and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker were the only two survivors of a private jet crash last September. At the time, Goldstein and Barker sustained severe burns.

The DJ’s latest project was an MTV reality show where Goldstein would provide interventions for young people dealing with drug dependency.

A rep for Goldstein confirmed the news, asking the public to respect his family’s privacy.
